Police near Naples found a LARGE container marked with the proper Latin Name of Anthrax in an otherwise empty frig while removing a bomb from the house. They are testing it.

I just caught a few words of it on the news around 10:00 AM, and haven't heard any more since, and NO wire reports yet.
It could be the case that the govt put a lid on the news coverage to prevent a panic. Either I heard the reprot wrong or it is now being quashed.

Did a search for "second anthrax florida" and my first 4 promosing looking hits were not there when I tried to go to the page. In a few minutes I suspect they will be out of the search engine also. I am feeling "managed".

Either/or, RAEMOND? Maybe you heard it right and it can't be verified and it's wrong like so much else we've heard in the last few weeks.

Are you kidding? The news services have been mentioning Anthrax like it was their major sponsor for weeks now. They love the panic it generates, it means more viewers.
Make the most of it, offer some placebos on eBay that counteract Anthrax. Offer some Anthrax test kits. Start registering Anthrax web sites, www.anthrax-supplies.com.

Florida, and this news source in particular seems to be "plagued" with anthrax hoaxes.
There are at least 6 news reports on that page.
It's no wonder residents aren't too panicked.
argh, mouse went wild and message got posted...
Since 1998 there have been more than 500 cases of people claiming they have unleashed or will unleash anthrax bacteria
there have been 50 anthrax scares in the Orlando area in recent years and four in Lee County
from this old news report:

Hi people!
I live in Orlando, and here's what I've been hearing on the radio. There is one case of Anthrax (not 2), an older gentleman, and they think he contracted it when he drank unfiltered swamp or lake water when he was vacationing up in North Carolina. He has been given antibiotics and is going fine. It is an isolated and non-terrorist-related case.
Let's not start a panic. That's the last thing everyone needs now.

What's so odd about this case is that anthrax hasn't been around (in the world) for 30 years, so it's very unusual, regardless where he picked it up from. I wouldn't panic, but it is VERY odd.

How common is anthrax and who can get it?
Anthrax is most common in agricultural regions where it occurs in animals. These include South and Central America, Southern and Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. When anthrax affects humans, it is usually due to an occupational exposure to infected animals or their products. Workers who are exposed to dead animals and animal products from other countries where anthrax is more common may become infected with B. anthracis (industrial anthrax). Anthrax in
wild livestock has occurred in the United States.

Pulmonary anthrax is supposed to be contracted through inhalation, not ingestion. It is distinct from the other two types.
I am not especially personally concerned, though a number of others here are, but I've seen no one post anything that approaches panic. However, even if someone did so, I fail to see why a few posters would consider that incidence a justification for condemnation or amusement. I must be missing something.

kraftdinner, are you confusing anthrax with smallpox?
2 human cutaneous cases in Tx in July. Fl has lots of livestock also.
Signs/Symptoms of the 3 types here

This is only what I heard on CNN last night snowy.....that a man in Florida has anthrax by inhilation. They think it's an isolated case, but it was confirmed by the CDC. I haven't heard of a second person, but I haven't had the TV on either.
While it's (supposedly) only one case, from what they said on CNN, it hasn't been around for 30 years anywhere. The last known case was in the 70's. They said it's not contagious.

CNN just reported that the poor soul in Florida died. The death certificate will reflect death as Anthrax.
They feel that because of the incubation period, he contracted Anthrax in Florida, prior to his trip to NC.
