I ask because as I write this I am dealing with a BAD sinus infection. It started out as a common cold then infected my sinuses. I seriously haven't slept in two days. Can't breathe!

Half the people I work with have a cold or are dealing with allergies and when I go to the store, someone is blowing their nose or coughing.

Usually my daughter gets a cold in February that seems to last the entire month. Now we both have had a cold and it is only early October. Got a feeling it is going to be a very long winter!

Edited to add: I don't mean this post to have anything to do with terrorist problems! Already people who are sniffing are thinking chemical or biological warfare *sigh*. I doubt terrorists care about my itty bitty little town!

Allergies/sinus here. My throat feels scratchy and I was stuffy and coughing this morning. It's chilly and damp here and the leaves are changing and falling. Winter is on it's way I'm afraid.

Sinus, fever , cough, sore throat...you name it I have had it the past two weeks.
The weather has been great in this part of Texas until yesterday when the rain came back.
I'm really enjoying this new cool spell. It gives me energy I just can't muster in the summer here.
I made 45 pots this week and finished up two large paintings I had been working on.
I just love the fall.

Haven't even been bothered by the ragweed the last 2 weeks.

Hope you feel better soon.

Off to wash my hands now. LOL

The threat is not bioterrorism. Its nuclear and its just a matter of time.
The U.S. is a paper tiger because we don't have the will to destroy our enemies before they destroy us.

dman3; FYI: There was a terrorist attack on the U.S. on 9-11 that killed thousands of innocent people. Due to the lack of U.S. response, I can understand why you might not be aware of this.
Everyone I talk to with flu or allergy symptons ask me about the chances of bioterrorism.

Naa its not terrorist no sir, it was the pollen fairy !!!!

As for the Attack on 9/11 I'm very aware of it, Some out of towner tried to turn the world trade center and pentgon into parking lots.

I blame these terrorist for a lot of problems but my water burning eyes sneazeing and hacky cough Naaa every year around the same time since I can remember this has happened in my life.

as far as this countries lack of responce you just keep listening to the news for a bit more shortly the responce you seek will turn a good chunk of the middle east and part of asia into a big ball of smoke and ash..
Wont be just this country though every country is going to take there turn in letting these terrorist know just how they feel about there actions over the years ANd the countries that don't stand behind this they will more then likely get theirs as well ..

yup. we're all hackin' and koffin' and snottin' and groanin' and bellyachin' around here. I had it bad Wed and Thur, went to the big book sale Fri and Sat, but fellow--seller (sis) had to DRAG her sorry germs to the sale.

Worst headache I've had in years..... actually took some sudafed...... normally never touch drugs.

Hey! while I'm on it..... anyone interested in how to make your own little hot wrap for achy spots? I 'got hep' to this when I had my knee operated on 2 yr ago.

a. - tube sock
b. - 2 cups of UNCOOKED white rice

Pour rice into sock, baste shut OR tie top of sock opening in big loose knot. Warm in microwave (if your microwave bottom is not real clean put sock thingy on a plate so it doesn't get ikky). Time to warm depends on efficency and wattage of your oven. Mine takes 2 min flat if right out of cupboard, 1 1/2 min if I used it within an hour or so. Hold one end high then other just to mix the rice, place on aching joints, headache, hurting tummy, wry neck, small of back..... smells so nice too.

Easy to wash, pull out basting or undo loose knot and throw it in with a load of towels. (not the rice Sparky. DO NOT WASH RICE)

I got to the point I started sewing tubes so I could have them of a fabric I liked. Those hoky guest towels lurking at the back of your linen closet are probably good if they are soft. Just fold in half long-wise and sew one short side and the long side. Fill and baste the other short side. Gets rid of those stupid towels that no one will use but are too expensive to throw out!

Another great filling if you can find some is buckwheat hulls, try a feed store or health food store. If you have any lavendar or rosemary growing throw a bit of that in too. Smells wonderful and restful.

seeper-nighter!

Let's see....I've had a headache for three days now (on the wrong side..they are normally on my left temple), swollen glands on my left side, an ear infection, and geeze - now that I tapped on my sinuses to check - they hurt like hell. The meds I am on permanently for nerve pain mask sinus pain until I have a raging infection going - which should be Monday at this rate. Ugh.
Oh, and my eye allergies have been awful for weeks. Other than that, I feel great!

immykidsmom: how'd you know what my microwave looked like? I'll definitely be using a plate!

Tegan, what part of Texas? Do you sell your pots in a shop where I could come admire them? I'm in the Austin area-hope you're in driving distance!

Immykidsmom, I love your idea! But who told you about my microwave? My neighbor has a bad knee from WWII, I will have to tell his wife about this. Another herb that would be great for those of us who are so congested-peppermint! Eucalyptus would work also, but my family finds it a little overwhelming. I put peppermint drops in our humidifier when they are congested, and dried peppermint would be great in a sock.

Dman-I hope you're right.

Yep that "Pollen Fairy" and "Mold Troll" have both been working on our family. But the damp weather sure has made the fall wild flowers and weeds pretty this year!!!!

I have been fighting this rotten cold/sinus infection for about two weeks now. The cough has finally gone away. The worst part is that it fools you into thinking that you are over it and then bam! it strikes again. I have found that those nose strips with the mentholatum rub added to it helps with the stuffiness and inability to breathe. The cough can be the worse. Found this over the counter cough medicine, Delsym pretty good at quieting the cough.

Was feeling very poorly Thursday am. Everything in my body was filled, congested and it hurt to breath. Well, not one for meds:
started out about 10 am with a a big heaping thinly sliced raw onion on toasted whole wheat with spicy brown mustard sandwich.

It surely cleared my head.
Was still feeling punky all afternoon, so for dinner had fresh basil pesto loaded with garlic over rotini noodles (lots of nooks for the pesto to cling to).

Friday, felt much better.

And stayed away from meat and chicken those two days.

Today, it's cold here in Pittsburgh. So have a big crock pot of beef stew going for the Steeler's home opener in our new field to nosh on this afternoon in front of the tv. And yes, have included lots of garlic!

Bearmom: I am in the Houston area.
Right now I just sell my pots on ebay. I won't even be trying to find shops for them until next spring. It is part of my five year plan (maybe six or seven years if the economy takes a dive) that ends up with a shop of my own where I can work sell and teach.
