Hi Rawbunz!
If that thread title doesn't bring him over here fast, nothing will.

Yes, Enchanted, I figured there's nothing like bad spelling to lure him with! Let's cross our fingers and hope it works!

You're right; I'm out there, or so I've been told on more than one occasion, and sometimes even preceded with a way. lol
Didn't think the topic title unusual though, just attributed it to my other withdrawal effects. But I've been keeping up and admiring all of you from afar.

Hi Helen -- I was impressed with your dancing talents.
That reminds me, snowy, thanks for the title. And your optimism was prescient.
I'll pass on the snack though--still getting a few ripe ones, but the vines are targeted for demolition this week-end.

I've missed you, Antiquary.
I've missed fresh tomatoes, too, Snowyegret. Tomatoes don't grow well where I live because of cool mountain air at night. I'm moving next spring and nearly top on my list of "things to do" is to plant tomatoes in my garden.

Rawbunzel, where else but the RT could bad spelling and tomatoes be alluring?
(And those are the last goodies, yummmm) You're such a good planner that I'll treat you to tomatoes or my Spitfire Noodles.
Antiquary, glad you like the title. One can't have all the gifts, but you come close.

Resistance is futile.
Those tomatos do look delish! Mine were a dud this year. Not enough heat. I got three ripe ones and then the rains hit. They all were ruined. Next year, I am looking ahead already to next year! A different variety is in order I think!

Oops! I see I am doing the Dan Quayle spelling of tomatos!
I guess it's ok. If I don't keep spelling incorrectly how will we keep Antiquary here?

I wish I had time to garden Antiquary! I love fresh produce though. Down here in South Florida I'm quite spoiled as I can get fresh salad greens, herbs, tomatoes, vegetables etc. all year round.
But, we do have a huge grapefruit tree, the largest one I've ever seen, a few smaller grapefruit trees, a kumquat tree, macadamia nut tree, Key limes and two orange trees. Unfortunately my lemon trees died, I was heartbroken. I don't know why either.
...New Gardening Cult starts in the AW RT...we worship yellow tomatos LOL...
How do you spell the plural of tomato anyway? I spelled it both ways to cover myself

My first year growing yellow tomatoes and they acheive cult status, LOL. They are really tasty.
Next year, I'm putting in some Black Krims along with the rest.

I think it's spelled tomatoes, but scurrilous rumors above to the side, I am really very spelling tolerant.
If the lemons had lived we could have maybe worked out a produce trade. I love lemons. And I understand about the time. I like sharing the tomatoes, etc., with friends, neighbors and relative; this summer we supplied 17 people with tomatoes. It's a little difficult to arrange watering and tending when you're away for periods of time
though.

Antiquary, they're called black, but they look dark purple. There's a couple other varieties, but I can get those seeds here. I have black tomato lust.

I'd love to trade my fruit with someone... but the citrus canker hit my area and it is prohibited to remove from the neighborhood or ship it to anyone. I'm disappointed.
This tomato-basil salad looks like it has a slice of a beefsteak type green, yellow and red tomato plus onion and basil...
After reading this thread, I'm now planning to go the supermarket tomorrow and get the ingredients for an Italian fresh tomato basil salad with fresh mozzarella.
Tomato craving has set in.

Snowyegret, I planted Black Krims this year but they were some of the plants that didn't like the weather. I have SEEDS though so will try again next year. I got several different varieties from the Heirloom Seed Company. None of those did well. The one that did do something was my plain old Roma tomato that I bought at the local nursery.
I love grapefruit Enchanted! Too bad you can't ship. We have the same thing with apples, can't take them from county to county because of larvae.Otherwise we could all have an exchange!

Ooh, now I'm truly disappointed. Washington State apples are the best. Too hot down here to have good apples. They need the crisp fall weather.

That's a great salad, enchanted. Jean does that or what is probably a variation of it pretty often.
Sounds kinda kinky, snowy.
I've never done the seeds but I might try this next year. I've been fascinated with Radiator Charlie's Mortgage Lifter Tomatoes since I read an article about them in a local paper. It seems that Charlie, an auto mechanic in North Carolina during the forties and fifties made the principal part of his living by locating his garage on a steep hill because its assent caused a fair percentage of tourist's cars to overheat. Thus the nickname Radiator Charlie. Charlie's hobby was growing tomatoes and from his fooling around crossing different varieties he discovered one which was exceptional. As the fame of Charlie's tomato spread, he sold seedlings for a dollar apiece and in a few years was able to pay off the mortgage on his house and his business. Locals began to call the plants Radiator Charlie's Mortgage Lifter Tomatoes.
True story.
