I'm about to leave for a fight party at a friend's house. Tonight is the rematch of Lewis versus Rachman for the heavyweight championship. And I am hoping Rachman gets his can kicked.

In the first match Rachman was the underdog & no one thought he had a chance against Lewis. Neither did Lewis, who didn't take the fight seriously enough to train properly for it (and it showed)...so naturally Rachman won the bout. At the time I felt happy for him. But then Rachman demonstrated his true colors. In a very short time he dumped the man who had been promoting him for years, who had stuck with him when he was a nobody, had wangled him a chance to fight the heavyweight champion in the first place--and signed with Don King (one of the most corrupt promoters around)for a bonus of $100,000.

So I'm hoping tonight that Lewis takes his title back. I'm a big boxing fan and have rooted *for* boxers over the years, but Rachman is one of the few boxers that I have really rooted *against* big time.

Any other boxing fans here?

bunnicula- I have been following boxing for many years. I used to correspond with the New York Post for their boxing ratings. Most rematches end the same way as the first fight but more decisively. Lewis, however, will probably beat Rahman tonight although I wouldn't be surprised if he gets knocked down in the early rounds. The first round or two should be exciting as these guys really hate each other.

I can't stand Lewis. He is one of the most self absorbed, pompous asses I have ever seen. I have even more dislike for Rachman, so I'm rooting for Lewis.

Just got home. Lewis KO'd Rahman in the 4th round! It was beautiful. Rahman's head has been getting bigger and bigger since he won the first fight, so I guess this let out a lot of the hot air. Lewis had obviously trained seriously for this fight, unlike the first one. Rahman never had a chance.

It was a good card. Four fights in all. The first had Kristy Martin scoring her 44th win. In the second Joppy won a middleweight belt over Eastman, a British fighter appearing in the US for the first time. The third fight was between two young heavyweights--one from Nigeria & the other from Russia (the Russian won).
