Did anyone else watch Dateline last night and see the McCoughy septuplets? They are now 4 years old. The parents have zero control over those kids! They were climbing on tables, playing with the chandelier, putting thier hands on the stove burners.Climbing trees. My kids were wild but they never would have gotten away with those things. These kids seem to be completely out of control. Most of them are still in diapers! Can you imagine? They didn't seem like children as much as a pack of wild creatures.
Was a good case against the use of fertility drugs.
I was appalled at what I saw. Just wonder if anyone else was.

Rawbunzel, I didn't see it. What a sad thing that they're so wild. My 2 year old doesn't climb on the tables or behave like that (and she's an imp). And to be 4 without a medical condition and still wear diapers.... Can you imagine them in school? You have the right to an informed opinion -Harlan Ellison

I didn't see it, but I"ve seen other shows on them. What I can't figure out, is how the parents support these kids?
I wonder if the parents still feel like they are a blessing from God?

"What I can't figure out, is how the parents support these kids?"
Krafty, here's a partial answer:
"...gifts as large as their custom-built house. There is no mortgage, but they do pay property taxes and utility bills. Thanks to corporate donations, there’s an unlimited supply of cereal and juice. The children also receive $1,000 worth of free clothing and shoes every year until their fifth birthday.
The potty isn’t yet used by everyone for its real purpose. Until they all catch on, the more than 150 diapers they use each week, are free.
But the most remarkable assistance is still coming from the community. Ever since the septuplets came home from the hospital in early 1998, people eager to help have donated nearly 70,000 hours of their time."

Where would I be without your input plsmith??
I keep wondering why this all bugs me so much. I know they're religious, and that's fine, but if it weren't for the help of companies and neighbours, how were they originally going to look after these babies?

Religious my butt...if they were so religious they never would have turned to fertility drugs in the first place. They would have accepted that, for some reason, god did not want them to have children. I nearly barfed every time they thanked god for their little miracles. They should have been thanking science for allowing them to overrule the god they so believe in.

Woo-hoo!
A poster after my own heart! sjl1017 Absoloutly! If they were such good christians they would have been happy with whatever God gave them. They had a two year old at the time. They were in a hurry to have more and couldn't wait another year to see if nature would take its course? No, they had to go take fertility drugs! Bleech! They sicken me with their talk. The father had the audacity to tell the reporter that he "wondered why he was so special that God thought he should have 7 children" Special? I don't think so. They are mooching off society. I have zero admiration for people like them.
Uh-oh. It would seem that I am in a mood.

LOL at Rawbuznel's moooood.
I'm not impressed with this family one way or the other but just because they believe in God doesn't automatically translate into them being happy with whatever God gave them.
On the other hand, they're being so obnoxious about it all... and considering the mood you're in I guess I'll just go along with you.
