Oh, now I think that I vaguely remember someone who used to hang around the EO sometimes. The ol memory isn't what it used to be.

Excuses ,excuses. you just didn't want to say Ross so you wouldn't get moderated. Not like there's anyone here to do it!

Ross likes cats. He used to wear sweat pants and the "ladies" of the board would get into them. I think you could get about three of them in there with him. That was a long time ago. It was a good idea not to get into a disscussion about posting anon with him.

Let's see. I'm going to test the total lack of moderation. I'm going to say the names of those that can't be said.
Ross R O S S
Brenda B R E N D A
Aurorah A U R O R A H
I think there's more but I forget who.
There. I'll just sit here and wait to see what happens to me.

Strangely enough the only other board that I've been reading lately is OTWA. It used to be the only board that I would just skim every once in a while. I used to do that with Zelda's too, the old Pink Room, before Gossipboard.
OTWA's much more interesting than it used to be, but not much about eBay anymore really. Mainly conversation.

I'm appalled at your flagrant violations of the rules here, Rawbunzel. You may be the first person that I've ever had to report to AW. I suppose it would be Diana now.

HaHaHa! It would have to be Diana! I think she is AW now.
I agree that OTWA is much more interesting than it used to be. Spaz has really livened the place up as have other AWers! There isn't much auction talk there but some of the discussions are ok.Getting better.

You should sign up there, Antiquary. I post there a little. They are all pretty nice. I haven't been bitten yet.

You missed a few more, rawbunzel
Coach
Networker67
Mivona
And my personal favourite, the Company CEO who has had more AW IDs than all the other unmentionables combined to the point that AW banned all discussion of his Company - George Tannous/BidBay.
Sticking around to piss TPTB off...
*You'd think since AW is saving megabucks after laying off all those employees/contractors, they'd have enough money left over to fix the HTML edit glitch. Probably no one left who knows how......

I like it here just fine.
Wish I had time to visit more... but I finally gave myself a day off today and have a chance to visit.
Well I'm brave enough to take the plunge, so here goes, Kraftdinner. You want to know who Ross is. This is my own opinion and may or may not be worth the paper it's written on.
Ross is a well-known and controversial poster in the online auction chat world. In fact, IMHO Ross is one of the most controversial posters I've had the pleasure of meeting up with in the OAI. He's a man of many contrasts and I believe he thrives on and enjoys the controversy that swirls around him. One aspect of Ross is that he's quite knowledgeable about auctions, online selling, the various sites, bookselling, Ebay rules, etc. (I've bought things from him and always been treated well by him, including in email, so that's my personal experience with the business side of Ross.)
He seems quite intelligent. I've learned quite a bit from just a few things that he's done online, and I'll give credit where credit is due. He's the first person I knew that had an Amazon pro merchant account and sold books there. It inspired me to take the plunge there at Amazon and it's now my main site for selling, so thank you for the inspiration Ross (I never mentioned that to him until today). I find some gems of insight into selling online in some of his comments.
Ross's personality and means of verbally expressing himself engender a lot of heated discussion and rather vehement reaction. He's incredibly blunt, sometimes painfully so. I believe, but am not sure, that he comes from the original group of Internet posters and users when Wild West attitudes, flaming, and long term arguments or disputes were simply the way it was done and also enjoyed. That can be incredibly disconcerting to someone who hasn't witnessed it before or participated in those kind of unmoderated flame wars before. There's been talk that he calls people on the phone about disagreements or issues they have. I really don't have any way of knowing if that's true or not.
He has his own EZboard which I'm guessing you've read, that will tell you more about Ross, and the controversies around Ross, it's his place and would probably give you more information than I can.
Generally I get along with Ross, although he and I are very different and express ourselves in completely different ways. He seems to have a few very close friends that are incredibly loyal and plenty of controversy with many other posters. I'm not here to summarize any of his past controversies for anyone else, he can do that, or you can read about it by searching and reading past threads on various boards, or those people involved in arguments with him can tell you about them. Or, ask Ross. For example, for myself I can tell you at times he uses far more swear words than I feel comfortable with, but that's my own opinion.
I have only cursory knowledge of his latest aventures in the world of the OAUA elections and as director on the OAUA board... again, there are very lengthy threads at several other boards that you could read.
So.... how'd I do Ross? I tried to be fair and impartial yet give Kraftdinner some real information, that was my intent anyway. There are many sides to Ross and I tried to explain a little bit of all those sides, it's hard to do, Ross has been around many years on these boards, much longer than me. (If something I said wasn't accurate, I apologize in advance for the error.)

Kraftdinner,
I was just cruising the net, looking for some diversion and on the Ross board, I had a little chat with Hepburn and Zilvy about the distinction between art and illustration. HaHaHa. Before I knew what hit me, Ross was trying to get me involved in a cat fight thread. LOLOL!!!
I like his signature line from another board.
"Sure, a few people I've met in the OAI have become friends. The rest: A bunch of delusional, crazy, mean, agressive, baggage loaded, damaged goods, out of touch with reality, losers."

Hi Enchanted
My work is flexible...Usually work on Thursday but I'm taking a break...just a little bookeeping once a week. Then, Friday, Saturday and sometimes Sunday I usually check out estate sales.

Ross in many ways reminds me of a puppy. He can be good company and has a terrific sense of humor (particularly about himself). He is very knowledgeable about on-line selling and has often made me think about things in a different way when he talks about issues rather than personalities. However, sooner or later he is bound to poop on the carpet. So, as soon as he starts circling, it's best to usher him to the door.
He's been ushered to the door by the moderators here a LOT. He was permanently suspended in January 2000 by DianaAW after having been suspended less permanently several times before that (including one by MarkAW just before midnight on December 31, 1999 - Mark hadn't been posting for months but I think he was around that night simply because of the Y2K bug concerns).
One of my first memories after registering in May 1999 was a thread where Ross's latest suspension was being discussed with Mark (Ross turned up later in thread as he had worked things out in e-mail). Back in 1999, posters usually wailed to the moderator whenever Ross was suspended (not me - the suspensions were always deserved, and I said so - actions should have consequences).
After his permanent suspension, Ross came back a several time under various IDs. However, given his strong personality, he's always been spotted almost immediately, first by th older posters and then by the moderators.
Ross once found that so discouraging that he came back as a female (donna-something) to try to throw people off the scent. Didn't work.
His ID's usually had a theme. A movie theme was the first - Whole Nine Yards (February 2000, a month after his permanent suspension).
He had other 2 or 3 movie IDs (in consecutive order) in August/September 2000. One was Chisholm1943. Another was CheyenneRoundup. (A site search of those names will bring up a number of threads.)
This year when he became interested in participating in the co-op threads, Ross switched to a Japanese theme and has had two IDs with Japanese names. The second ID was suspended late summer (in the "Other Auctions" forum).
At one time, when he was being berated by others, Ross posted a list - "Litany" of his "Evil Deeds". He used to repeat his Litany as his Mantra a lot on other boards but hasn't done so for some time. The list probably needs updating .

Thanks for the info. I'm just trying to figure out who everyone's talking about at AC (a MUST read if you have time)!
