This story was reported in today's Palo Alto Daily news.

A man was shot last night in nearby Menlo Park. The man sought help by knocking at a residence. Owner of the house came out and shot the man in the head for a robber.

hi twinsoft.

That is an incredibly sad story. What a shame.

Hi, enchanted. Yes, it's a tragic and ironic story.

I chose "worst day ever" for the thread title because my day started out so badly. I was driving to work in the rain, down a street I have driven often, and I don't know what happened, lane merged or something, but at one point I noticed the double yellow line to the right of my car, and I was looking into the headlights of an oncoming car. Yes, I was driving down the wrong side of a busy street. There were several other minor tribulations, until I read that story in the paper. Kind of put things in perspective.

I'm glad you weren't hurt twinsoft, or anyone else, that is very scary. Do you think you might have fallen asleep for a few seconds at the wheel? It can happen so easily when people are very tired. That would have really shook me up.

About the news story, you're right sometimes a story or just a moment of truth in the day can put a lot of things in perspective and make us grateful for having minor problems but basically being alive and fine.
