I asked this question at EO, but wondered if you have any thoughts. What do you think about having a storefront in conjunction with a web page? Or do you think a storefront is all you need? Are they a good thing??

I don't have either one but I did want to say hi.
Would like to see what others think about this topic though as I need to branch out myself and am thinking about a storefront.

Out of the last 5 Sellers I've brought from (all within the last week), all have had storefronts of some size and I've made additional purchases from 3 of them. I checked out another Seller's auctions and when I didn't find anything I wanted, I checked out her store and ended up making a sizeable purchase.

Assuming you are primarily targeting your auction clients, then I would think a storefront would make the most sense. It's right there, in their face!

That said, if there is a link to a website, I check that too and have in numerous occasions in the past placed orders.

Of course, if you can't place a link to your website in your auction, then you need to investigate other methods of publicising that angle. There's a thread in the EO from a week or so back - I'll find it and bounce it to the top for you

I personally don't have either but I buy far more than I sell and frankly, I've just been too darn lazy to set one up.

Marketing Question

Psst - Go check out the candles the originator has on offer at her website. They are divine!

Hi rawbunzel! I'm kind of in the same boat. I like eBay but I'd like to diversify in some way. I've got MS Publisher, so making up a web page is a cinch, but I wondered if I should do the storefront thing too.......??? Are you thinking the same thing?

Thanks Michelle!! I can see why Helen would mix you up with plsmith. She's pretty helpful and always has good links. Thanks!! One problem though Michelle....I'm a recovering scent-addict. Those Yankee candles did me in. I'll check out the site, but if I fall off the wagon, it's ALL YOUR FAULT!!!

If you want to play around with a storefront a bit first (without spending any money) just to see what is involved, I recommend signing up for the basic Bizhosting package:

http://www.bizhosting.com/

It's got all the bells and whistles (including shopping cart). I was quite impressed (I loved the inventory control feature) when I tried it out a few months ago. I think you only get about 10 meg of web space but that's plenty for testing purposes.

The best part, of course, is that it's free.

I'll check that out Irene.

Yes, Krafty , that is the same thing I am thinking . I like Ebay but business is slow so I need to branch out or find real work....let's see branch out or get up and drive through traffic in every kind of weather to a job that I hate....hmmmmm.What to do, what to do.
