I'm sorry to hear about the shooting/stabbing at the CA airport, but which "lunatic" ruined the holiday?
I'm still sitting here sick over what to do with The Kid here at Macy's Fireworks Ground Zero. Which is the least painless? Past the guys in hazard suits? Or past the major militia by the Con Ed plant? Past the brow-mopping parents and forlorn kids who have been walking *from* the river since hours ago, with coolers resting on top of shopping carts, presumably for violating the "no coolers" rule? Are we even safe in the building; what if it is my building that the mysterious tenants on the top floor bring down?
And they want Tom Cruise to apologize?
Who is the lunatic?

You know Nycyn, if nothing at all feels safe to you then you might as well do the thing that would be the most fun under any other circumstance. If something could happen wherever you are it doesn't really matter where you are.
I don't know what I would do in your shoes. You have to make it as fun or "normal" as possible for your son and that is hard to do right now.

It is difficult for me political cognitive dissonance AND I might as well be down at the World Trade Center again because of the triggers galore.
I have a friend helping me out but she can't handle *heat*. 
At worst we have the tube, some red, white and blue sprinkled cookies, and, god help me, I bought the kid a bottle of Coca-Cola (unheard of!) with-caffeine-please.
Then there is the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE. A promise to play Nintendo with him.
This might work.
If I wasn't on codeine I'd be drinking already.

Oh--Cruise. He was quoted the other day as saying something along the lines of that he doesn't want to raise his children in this country. The crowds went crazy.

The tube,cookies,coke and nintendo sounds like a good plan to me. I have never enjoyed the crowds at the 4th festivities anyway so staying home and watching the fireworks on TV suits me fine. You can actually see more of it anyway and no traffic to dodge either.

A HOliday to some a Nightmare to others what about our troops in Korea facing a filthy Marxist scumbag,
a pack of self important fools who have mis mangaed the economy so bad with their political idioccy that their people are starving at gunpoint.
Now a skunken ship filled with murdered sailors again we take it because our greedy hacks at the top want to rip off Chinese peons.
This is why I have no use for Hilary, or for the rest for that matter our boys are there now they have been there for 50 years in the blazing heat in the freezing cold many of them murdered waiting for America to come to its senses.
There can be no Honor with thousands of Missing in action and Prisoners of war.
