"This leadership is so ideologically hostile to conservation efforts, they've taken the 'conserve' out of conservative," said the Natural Resource Defence Council's Alyssondra Campaign.

A few paragraphs . . .

"The Wilderness Society's Dave Alberswerth has charged: "There is no concern for the environment and a great deal of deference given to oil, gas and livestock industries, the constituency that financially supports the Republican Party."

"And while clean solar, wind and fuel-cell technologies hold vast promise, the critics say, the Bush government has allowed Detroit car makers to keep producing large gas-guzzlers while maintaining US access to cheap oil as a key goal of its foreign policy."

Meteorologists and Environmentalists are the least of Bush's worries. He is losing the support of conservatives. I have been hearing more disgruntled comments against him from conservatives here lately, more than usual.

His inactiveness about the Lott situation, disappointed some conservatives.

He is going down the same road as his dad 12 years ago.

My point here is, believe it or not, is that I have said that the Bush Administration was encouraging Detroit to build gas guzzlers and that alternative fuels held a lot of promise which the Bush Adminstration was suppressing. A certain unnamed Squirrel accused me of promoting "conspiracy theories" and touting this as one of them. So, if it is a provable consipracy theory, then I'm in good company.

Also, realize that a lot of Americans, as well as most people in the world, are upset at Bush and the deliberate destruction of our environment. Your concerns are not alone, as those who used to chide you derisevely as being nothing but a "tree hugger" for having concerns about pollution and the demise of our natural resources are now supporting your concerns.

Gas-Guzzlers And Anti-American Terrorism

According to the most recent statistics released by the Environmental Protection Agency, average fuel economy for 2003 model cars and passenger trucks on their way to the showroom right now is a whopping 20.8 miles per gallon. What’s worse is that this is roughly six percent less than the high point (best mileage) set 15 years ago.

The number of vehicles getting more than 30 mpg has dropped from six percent in ’02 to four percent this model year. Why? Well, because you want to take that 6,000 pound truck down to the grocery store to pick up a quart of milk, my dear.

LOL!

"George W. Bush has become fond of telling us that there are “evil forces” in the world. That’s his simplistic rationale for why the attack on the World Trade Center occurred, and also why we’ll inevitably be attacked again. It’s a comic-book kind of logic: we’re good, they’re evil, and that’s why they want to hurt us. He may know better, but telling the truth certainly won’t get him re-elected."

That link does bring up a very good point, Helen, other than the one that you quoted. It is that by buying gasoline and oil-based products, we are indirectly funding terrorist organizations who want to do us in. Some of those profits from the sale of Oil to American concerns are funneled directly into Al-Queda's bank accounts. That means that a certain amount of pennies per gallon of gas that you purchase goes to pay terrorists to kill you. A strange kind of logic, but isn't that what we're doing?

It's a lot easier to persuade people they can do without diamonds than gas.
