Just curious! I'm voting NO on the recall and FOR Bustamante. (To you folks in other states: these are two separate ballot questions, and we can vote yes or no on recall and then vote for some candidate, too.)

I'll probably vote the same as you. I would vote for Huffington who I feel is the better choice but don't wish to split the vote. And I'll be voting no on recall as I view it is a coupe.

MAke that three for Bustamonte. I am goint to try to grab some time tomorrow and head down to Arnolds town hall meeting. I'm dying to her him make just one non stereotypical politician comment. Tell me how you are going to draw new businesses to California for example with our mandatory family leave law, absurd cost of living and looming water issues.

Fenix03,

If I were you, I would be more curious about how the Democrats, that got California into the current mess, plan to solve the problems. It kooks as if Bustamonte is offering more of the same.

Californias current mess is thanks to many people and many situations. Californias economy was just as negatively affected by 9/11 and its aftermath as the nation. Strange that republicans stick up for Bush on a national level using that excuse yet can't seem to apply it on local levels. this state has a great deal of long term problems. Worrying only about eliminating the deficit is being narrow minded. What are you going to do for this state for the long run? As long as we don't decide to spend 5% of our budget in another state we can work out the budget issues but what are you going to do about education, healthcare, water, and ever increasing housing costs due to excessive high end building?

McClintock would make the best governor by far, but he's not electable here in the People's Republic of CA and so I'll be voting for Arnold.

Democrats are running businesses out of the state and hopefully Arnold can turn things around.

tex 1 - I agree.
------------

ebayauctionguy - Don't know if you saw the interview that O'Reilly did with Arnold, but here's the url if you're interested.

The best thing he offered, imo, was this:

O'REILLY: In order to get control over the spending, which you have an $8 billion shortfall coming up next year. I don't know why you want this job, anyway. Give me a massive headache. But anyway, in order to get control over the spending, you've got to cut. You've got to cut. You know where you're going to cut?

SCHWARZENEGGER: Well, the most important thing is, and it's the first thing I will do when I get into office, is to open up the books, do the auditing, look at the budget line by line and look at where the waste really is. Because right now, what no one really knows -- economists have told me that our budget deficit is anywhere between $5 and $9 billion. We really don't know.

But I think the people deserve to really look, what is underneath this rock? Let the sun shine in and let the people know what is really going on.

that alone might be worth some votes. [ edited by Linda_K on Sep 12, 2003 12:24 PM ]

Traditionally - don't many of these audits end up costing as much as they save?

I don't know what they cost...nor when the last one was done. Maybe you know???

But with the shape CAs in I definately think one is called for at this time.

I wanted to add that if this statement is true....economists have told me that our budget deficit is anywhere between $5 and $9 billion. We really don't know....then that alone would call for one. How can anyone make a decision on how best to work at a budget when they don't really know what the true deficit is? An audit would take care....hopefully...of that.

That's one good thing about Arnold being a businessman vs a politican. He knows a person/state cannot run a business/government when those who should know, don't even have a clue.
