kerry was on the defensive on all topics, when he wasn't echoing. I have a better plan, I know what it is like to lose troops in combat.
kerry was so full of BS, he was on the ropes all night.
Hey, hey Ho, ho Kerry - sign the 1-8-0
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The person who has nothing for which he is willing
to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

bush looked appropriately nervous, stupid, and his answers had no substance...he just kept repeating meaningless phrases like "hard work", "steadfast".
Kerry was calm, cool, and had ANSWERS !
AND HA HA he's taller!!!!!!!!!No matter how hard they tried to hide it ...he's taller ...and has a better tan.

Twelve, Bear... what debate were you watching? Good god guys, even your hero conservative commentators disagree with you.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Hey dad ... what didn't he answer? If you are going to make the statement, back it up.
I'll tell you what amazed me. Kerry brought up things that that need to be addressed immediately regarding real homeland security measures and Bushs response was to mock the measures and say he's love to know where the money is coming from. Hey stupid - you can spend 200 Billion to invade a country that is not threatening us but make a joke about funding upgraded security at our ports, major subway and tunnel systems? That's the president you want?

Bear and twelvetoes they can never face facts about their failed leader the "what me worry guy" Alfred E. Newman aka Geo.Bush. Bear and twelvetoes are both delusional in their thoughts again.
I can't wait until the next debate. It will be great fun to watch Bush talk about his economy.
When Kerry points out that Bush is the first President in 70 years to loose jobs for America. Bush can always say he is sticking to his "CORE VALUES" of making the rich richer and the middle class and poor poorer.
Congratulations Mr. Kerry you are exposing Bush for what he is a failed leader

If anyone missed the debate and you want to see Bush "grimacing, furrowing his brow, almost rolling his eyes and at the very beginning looking snippy and peevish" you can watch the debate here
Good quotes from Kerry
" And I believe President Bush and I both love our country equally. But we just have a different set of convictions about how you make America safe."
"I have a better plan for homeland security. I have a better plan to be able to fight the war on terror by strengthening our military, strengthening our intelligence, by going after the financing more authoritatively, by doing what we need to do to rebuild the alliances, by reaching out to the Muslim world, which the president has almost not done, and beginning to isolate the radical Islamic Muslims, not have them isolate the United States of America."
"Unfortunately, he escaped in the mountains of Tora Bora. We had him surrounded. But we didn't use American forces, the best trained in the world, to go kill him. The president relied on Afghan warlords and he outsourced that job too. That's wrong."
"I believe in being strong and resolute and determined. And I will hunt down and kill the terrorists, wherever they are."
"But we also have to be smart, Jim."
"And it wasn't until former Secretary of State Jim Baker and General Scowcroft and others pushed publicly and said you've got to go to the U.N., that the president finally changed his mind -- his campaign has a word for that -- and went to the United Nations."
"The president just talked about Iraq as a center of the war on terror. Iraq was not even close to the center of the war on terror before the president invaded it."
"Yes, we have to be steadfast and resolved, and I am. And I will succeed for those troops, now that we're there. We have to succeed. We can't leave a failed Iraq. But that doesn't mean it wasn't a mistake of judgment to go there and take the focus off of Osama bin Laden. It was."
"This president thought it was more important to give the wealthiest people in America a tax cut rather than invest in homeland security. Those aren't my values. I believe in protecting America first."

Thanks Helen, good meaty comments compared to bush who could only smirk, fidget and say over and over again something about hard work, hard work...he must've said that 20 times.....he said basically nothing.
If his only ammunition againzt Kerry is that Kerry voted two ways on that bill, well, the Republicans voted TWO WAYS on that same bill. So sounds like bush is up ship creek with no paddle!

Not an unreasonable question at all...especially considering the fact that kerry has made promises that are estimated to be close to 1 trillion dollars....but won't say how he'll pay for them. It's a reality we have to address/face.
you can spend 200 Billion to invade a country that is not threatening us but make a joke about funding upgraded security at our ports, major subway and tunnel systems?
First of all kerry's $200 B is incorrect. It's $120B. The dems are so great at exaggerating - wanting everything to look worse than it is. Second kerry has stated he too thought saddam presented a threat....and he voted to invade. His statements on the threat saddam present are all over the internet for those who wish to remain in denial.
And this President has done a LOT to upgrade our homeland security. The ships coming in are xrayed out at sea, before they hit our ports...and a small number are inspected when they come in.
That's the president you want?
It SURE is!!! One who is consistant, resolute determined and can be trusted to defend this nation - not see it left up to what 'Global interests' would have us do...nor have to have UN approval for anything we do. And one who doesn't keep changing his mind or waffling on his positions, especially with Iraq - like kerry has.

Kerry has answered and some solutions I heartily approve of to get more money is to roll back the HUGE TAX CUTS bush gave to his "base" , the "haves" and the "have mores".
Take back the HUGE TAX breaks for companies relocating overseas.
Hunt down and eliminate billionaires who AVOID PAYING BILLIONS IN TAXES by having off shore addresses.
linda, bush lost last night by just repeating a dead mantra.....you aren't going to win by doing the same thing.
