I live in NY....and for the past two/three/five (who can remember) weeks it's been rainin'!....I yearn to see the big yellow ball (I think it was called "the sun"?) in the skies once agin'....We've got cabin fever, right smack dab in the middle of the summer!...YUK!...The only project we've come up with is building a lovely boat (although, my husband, Noah, insists on callin' it a Ark!)....Tomorrow he says we goin' to the pet store to get a bunch of animals to fill it....He says I can only have 2 of each!!!...
The kids are bored to tears (well, the tears are actually from the wrestling matches that they keep getting into!)...the pool is turning a lovely shade of green....The flowers are wilted from overwatering...and everything is damp/wet!!!....I think I even spotted some moss growin' on MY north side!!!!....
How are the rest of the waterlogged northeasterners dealin' with this????

Rancher~
Boy, do I hear ya! In Northern NH here, and thought for a second that yesterday was going to be great! Left the house around 8:30 a.m. to meet my ex to pick up my daughters. The sun was shining and it was beautiful. I have to drive about 3 hours round trip to get them. Wouldn't you know it, we got to 100' of my driveway and it started to pour, and never stopped all day.
Did the same thing this morning -- sunny and bright at 8:30, and cloudy and raining by noon.
Kids are going crazy, and I'm already there!!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY WEATHER!??
We almost always have rain here in the Great Pacific N.W. but alas it is dry ,dry, dry! Please, send our rain back to us! [I am tired of watering the plants!]
Really, what you describe is normal here for 11 months of the year.

Ah Rancher! I was born here and it doesn't seem right if it doesn't rain! The moisture helps us to "preserve" well! My mom is 83 and looks 63! I only hope it works as well for me! I really do not like the heat and the sun beating down all the time. This climate suits me well. Doesn't suit everyone though.

Wow, here in the great Southwest it's been dry as a bone (not all that uncommon). We we utterly amazed that it rained/sprinkled for a whole half hour last night!
Rawbunzel: I live in AZ and almost moved to Seattle. I wonder if this desert rat would have drowned?

mouseslayer;
Here in South East Texas it has rained finally after weeks and weeks of dry hot (ten days over 100 degrees) weather.
That is the good news the bad news is now the miquitos are out again.
I tried to swim last night and everytime I came out of the water it was like the movie Swarm only misquitos.
I'll take the dry heat anyday.

We have nothing but dry heat here. I'd even be willing to share! We've been in the 110's for about 3 weeks now. I think I'm wilting...And to top it off I got a nasty summer flu, yuck.

mouseslayer, I lived in AZ for just a few months in 1978. Thought I would die! Was never so glad to leave anyplace as I was Phoenix! It was 120 the day I left. Funny though when I arrived back in Seattle it was 92 and it felt hotter here because of the moisture in the air. That dry heat thing is true. The good thing is that we only get over 90 for about three days a year.
So....if you like AZ you would hate it here! You would have drowned for certain!
Ubie, I think I have that many slugs in my own back yard! Gotta love those slimy guys! I really like to look at them up close. They are fascinating....especially the tiger ones.
I look at them real close right before I snuff them out.
