I was sitting here thinking this morning - I know, dangerous activity. With all the arguing going on in the House and Senate why is it that we don't have more of a balance of power in these two entities?

During the primaries they ask you if you are Democrat or Republican and you are handed the appropriate ballot. Why isn't that done during the regular election? Wouldn't both the House and Senate be better able to represent the people of this country if they were evenly Republican and Democrat? Why make it possible for there to be a "shift in power"? You'd still have your moderates and your extremists in both parties. They'd just be more evenly distributed through the House and Senate.

Maybe there's a reason for it and I just don't see it. Maybe one of you out there has a clear answer. Shouldn't both the House and Senate work independently from the President in order to keep things fair for all Americans?

I'll be working on a senate race here in a couple of months and I suppose that's why all of this is on my mind. I'd sure like to get it off for the short time I have left to be only minorly politically involved.

What would happen to those who are not Democrat or Republican?

I believe we still need to be allowed to vote for whomever we feel is best. I know I don't vote strictly along my party lines.

Ron, I don't either. In the U.S we have choices and that is one of them, that is what freedom is all about.

The balance in congress is unbalanced but that doesn't mean that a congressman is always going to vote the party line. That is their freedom also. They have a right to vote what they want and sometimes the party that has the most wins and sometimes loses.

They do Cheryl in some instances. There are many republicans that do not like his SS plan.

You will see the split when and if the Supreme Court Justices retire and new ones are added. That is going to be difficult for congress to vote party lines. Everyone has a different view as to what Justices are needed. Of course I don't want to see a judge that is in favor of abortion but that is just my take on it. I think every baby and adult have a right to life. Death is final.

_Having problems typing this morning. Good thing someone isn't here or they would be following me correcting me.
