Oh my ---I wish --I had been there, done that, but thanks to PPV had a vicarious pleasure to gyrating to those guys--the Red Hot Chile Peppers. Yes--they were in Latrobe (Lay-trobe) for fellow W. PA'ers. About 30 miles east of Pittsburgh and geesh--Flea had clothes on and sure proved he knows his way around a bass guitar. YES!!!!
Excellent concert--we taped it.
You know there are a ton of artists wish I had been there---if you could see the artist of choice---who would it be?

Wow, now I'm feeling old!
The best performance I ever saw was Billy Joel. I would go to see him again in a heartbeat, years gone by or not. I would also like to see Barbra Streisand as long as she promised not to sing any of that disco crap she went through in the 70's, lol
And I would love to see Bette Midler.
And Rod Stewart.
And Steve Perry.
Guess I'm really showing my age...
Also Keali'i Reichel... local boy, awesome voice.

I would love to hear Leon Redbone in person. Other than him, I can't think of any I would go to see in concert--but then I don't listen to newer music.
But if I could go back in time...
I would go to the 50s Carnegie Hall appearance of the Goodman orchestra to hear them do the best version of "Sing, Sing, Sing" that has ever been done.
I would go back to the 20s & 30s to hear the Redman & Lunceford orchestras live--two of the best black big bands there were.
I would go to see Sophie Tucker and Ethel Merman sing.
I would... boy, I wish time travel were possible!

I must be stuck in the 60's - would have given anything to have been in the audience for Elvis 68 concert. I've got it on tape and I just swoooooooon like a girl every time I watch it. I miss Roy Orbison too.
I don't even know who Red Hot Chili Peppers is? Thought it was the name of a cookbook.

Latrobe. Never been there, but I am fond of the little green bottles emblazoned with the cryptic "33" that come out of that town. I've wasted many an evening reading the label on those.
I'd like to see all of those dead guys from the 60's alive again; Jimi, Janis, Jim, et al.

We so much wanted to go! But just didn't want to commit to the drive from Philly.
I have been very lucky in my life to have seen most everyone I have ever wanted to see.
My fav band, the smashing pumpkins several times, Dylan, U2, Stones, and many others during the last 2 decades. Hope to be seeing Kid Rock later this summer.
The band is wish I could have seen~the Clash. That wouldda been great!
But the all time, no doubt best moment of my concert life? David Bowie~at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC last June. God, that was the most incredible performance I have ever seen. I was in tears through the first three numbers.

When I saw the title to this thread;
Peppers in the \'Burg
I thought it was going to be about hamburgers with peppers in them... ... I really did.
To get back on topic,
I would see the Fleetwood Mac concert "The Dance" from 1997. I have the video and the CD. I like it, I like it!!!

Artist who only did one tour, EVER, 20 years ago -- Kate Bush. Would love to see her live. Wouldn't mind taking a ride in the time machine to catch Jethro Tull, circa 1970, either.

Charlotte Church is a 14 year old Opera singer from Wales. She is so gifted.The only opera singer I've ever enjoyed. She is amazing to hear. She is the one they refer to as the voice of an angel.

This just proves I would rather sit at concerts now. In my young days at (you may laugh) Peter Frampton, Elton John, Rod Stewart, and K.C. and the Sunshine Band, I stood...I had stamina then....

Speaking of songs, singers and such...
Does anyone remember a song in the early 80's by Bryan Adams called "Diana". It was around the time Princess Diana married what's his name. I always thought it was about her. Would love to find it. Any buffs out there?

Hmmm, some of my favorite shows:
Pink Floyd-awesome!
Nirvana-I miss them
Iron Maiden-another great stage show!
Queensryche-what can I say, wow!
Metallica-what power in the air at that one!
Dio-oh what a stage show!
I got to see Red Hot Chili Peppers years ago with Pearl Jam (unknown at the time) and Nirvana (just hitting it big). That was a great show! Eddie Vedder even did a stage dive into the audience.
(Ok, did I show my age? )
~~~~~~~~No, I'm not a cat.~~~~~~~~
Yes, I'm MouseSlayer everywhere. It's a great name, so I use it!
Yep, Kcat and Barry(chilipepper)Barris,
I thought this was about growing peppers in the city. Anyone remember "Hotdown, summer in the city." Was that the name?
Anyway, I remember going to a concert in Louisville, Ky when Sonny and Cher first got going......Whoopie Do!
Xardon, We have a girl here who is in talent contests who sounds exactly like Janis. It's eerie. Off the subject but I hope you had a good convention week. Sounded kind of ugly at times. I can't believe they hire people to be protesters (what they said on the news). It kind of takes the importance out of protesting.
Calamity~re: your aside!
I got to watch all the "kids" protesting from the Wanamaker Building in downtown Philly~most of the protesters on the bad day came in from NYC in buses! Bless their little hearts, they tried so hard to wreck everything~but the Philly cops really pulled it together and did the most incredible job of dealing with it. It was beautiful to watch, actually, no one got hurt seriously~except some of the troublemaker's egos. Of, course, the vast majority of the protesters were great and didn't attempt to destroy everything in their way
Most everyone here is in love with the Philly cops right now~don't know how long it will last tho~
Calamity,
It wasn't that bad. Worked 13 to 15 hours a day, but mostly it was quiet. The protestors that caused trouble weren't much worse than a rowdy Mummer's parade crowd. I really don't know what we did that worked so well. Maybe they were just scared of us. It is nice to get some positive press for a change. I'm sure it won't last.
mimigigi,
If I'd known you were watching, I'd have waved at the camera. It is kind of surreal around here. Strangers at the Wawa are shaking my hand and lavishing praise. I'm sure not used to that!
jeanyu,
Sorry for the derailment. I'll try to get back on track. The most memorable concert I ever attended was in '67 at JFK Stadium. Several bands were supposed to play but bad weather forced most to cancel. Pink Floyd played for 2 or 3 hours. They had a large gong suspended from the top of the stage and used it to great effect as they jammed along with the storm. The jam started as "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" but turned into something almost Wagnerian in tone and feel. The memory still sends chills down my spine. Even Woodstock pales in comparison. BTW, mimigigi, are you old enough to remember the Electric Factory?
calamity,
Forgot to add this to previous post and I've already edited it one time too many. I believe the song is "Summer in the City" by "The Lovin' Spoonful". It's "hot town", BTW. An appropriate song for today. The sidewalks around here are "hotter than a matchhead".
I'm from Cleveland but am in Latrobe about 6 times a year.The family cemetery plots are up at St. Vincent's and I have to take my mom there to decorate.
I heard about the Festival Concert and wanted to go but couldn't fit it in. They had a bunch of good bands. Who else was worth seeing beside the RHCP? My daughter wanted to see Marcy Playground, who were supposed to play. Did you catch them?
gaffan
Kate Bush. I would give ANYTHING to see her. None can compare.
BTW, have you ever heard of Happy Rhodes? Her voice is very like Kate's, though the music is not.
