Hope you see this....Locked the thread on Firewalls ..Wonder how many other people are unaware of just how "open" they are?
And thanks again.

ZA telling you that you're all snug has little more meaning than a Chinese fortune cookie telling you that you will be happy all of your days. Read the fine print before you sign.
I feel that I should tell you . . .
. . . that I have recently figured out how to scan all of a user's 65,535 TCP/IP ports almost instantaneously! This is an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT development since this online test (above) is testing only a few well known low-numbered ports, and all other currently available port scanners take many hours to check every port on a system. In fact, all other scanners take so long that few people ever bother scanning all the way up to port 65,535 . . . which is precisely why so many Trojan horse programs can stay safely hidden up there!

It's easy for them to get in, Neil, you let them in on the tail of things that you want. The printer port, or any other port security notwithstanding. ZA gives a false sense of security. It says to users "There, there, everything will be alright". If you think that a little freebie firewall, one that you mostly set to moderate protection so it won't bug you all the time protects you, you're in lala land.

Interesting Ken. I have the security level for local & Internet set at high. I also don't tend to do much of anything on the Internet beyond AW & eBay with this puter. No downloading of freebies etc-etc. Not sure I would call ZA a "little" freebie firewall, I know some very advanced computer geeks that swear by it.
