New political blog by the once esteemed presidential candidate. Should be a good source of info for all the lefties now. And fenix can even get to talk back to her favorite movie stars!!

I get a kick out of Arianna. I met her long ago (she was still married and her husband was still in the closet) and thought she was a funny, intelligent and interesting woman. I've enjoyed watching her rise to prominence.

Sitting here trying to remember when Arianna and I parted ways in the politcal arena...but can't. At one time she was on some political TV program, or at least one where the discussion was always politics, and I often found myself agreeing with her positions.

Then..something changed in her. I started seeing her become more verbally angry as she spoke about the issues and appeared to me to be 'switching' political sides. Not sure if she really did [say go from being a moderate to a radical] or if it was just my perception of her doing so, as I was making my own political changes and beginning to lean more and more to the 'right' at that time.

Now, reading what fenix has written I wonder if that change was occuring because of, and during, these mentioned life-changing events in her life. ???

She used to be more of a moderate republican and her husband was a republican congressman. They actually ran against each other for a short time in the California govenors race before he dropped out.

Should relate better in print at least. Most times I wish I could understand her better. With that accent and when sometimes she talks so fast, as they do trying to get in their 100 points in 3 minutes, I dont know what she's saying. (I'm left like, whaaa'd she just say???)

Fenix, wont it be exciting to post back to Alec baldwin, etc?. etc? lol!! Wonder if they will disclose who they are, or have handles?

Linda, the more I lean right, the more my husband tells me I must be going through a mid-life crises! (To which he promptly gets an ah shaddup from me.) But seriously, I think for me, its part of relinquishing the young rebellious ideas and ways to the young rebels themselves, and understanding of myself for the whys and whatnots of life.

- I will have to google that saying now as I cant remember it in its exact quote about leaving whats youthful to the young.

Libra, that was just an example. Although I posted the site, I didnt really spend much time on it. Just figured it'd be a good source of fodder for this board.

Btw, there are like 8 brothers or kids in that family. They cant all be alike!

I never found her to much to the left, just hard to understand. Since we don't have cable I never see the political side of the news. It's best to stay away from that. Politics makes strange bed fellows.I you know what I mean...

Dbl - I think you misunderstand me a bit. I enjoy and respect the work actors do but I'm not impressed by them simply because they are "famous". I thought I had mentioned before that I used to work in the industry and one thing I learned is that talent is not always possessed by interesting people. I could sit here all day and list people I have met or dealt with but it would only take about two minutes to list the ones that I would actually enjoy conversing with.

Alec does not intrigue me. He's well spoken, but seems a bit erratic and as a rule I'm not big on abusive personalities.

As far as Arriannas accent goes, I think some people are just wired differently when it comes to accents. Some people don't give them much attention and others shut down when they hear one and assume they will not understand what is being said. I know what you mean about speed though. Most other languages are spoken much faster than our ours so once people grasp english as their second language they tend to speak it at the cadence of their native language. If you haven't figured out the accent it can get boggling quick.

I have a friend that is Greek and Argentinian (english is actually her 5th language) and she loves messing with people by changing her accents and cadence.

Thanks fenix. I did a quick 'google' on her after I posted that and it looks like she's been all over the different party lines, at one time or another. Republican, democrat, Independent and now....imo, totally off the wall.

It is hard for me to even imagine what it would be like to have my husband suddenly, at age 53, announce he's gay. Let alone be in such a public arena when it's disclosed to all.

dblfugger - its part of relinquishing the young rebellious ideas and ways to the young rebels themselves, and understanding of myself for the whys and whatnots of life.

I agree that's a big part of it. For me, most of my voting life I was registered American Independent....a CA part of the larger grp of Independents in the US. According to what I saw as the top most critical issues [in my mind] come election time, I paid attention to who supported doing what....and that's who I voted for. I've voted for dems, republicans, and third party candidates. After going through the clinton years it became very clear to my husband and I that the republican party platform was much MORE in line with our positions on a ton of issues. Then after watching the dems....especially the ultra-lefties go balastic during the pre-2000 election, it confirmed my belief that the republican party platform is much more closely tied with our founding fathers intent for our government - than the dem party could ever hope to be.

So...between that and the ultra-libs, progressives and socialists posting here ....listening to them convinced me to finally switch and become a member and donating/supporting part of the Republican party.

What! Our Fenix hobnobs with the Rich and Famous! I didn't know that..

The only celeb that I have ever seen up close was Lyle Lovett... he was on the same plane as I was going to London.... and he's every bit as homely in person as he is on screen! LOL

And on alec baldwin....he and his brothers are all good looking and good actors, imo.

BUT....alec is like a lot of verbal democrats....their word means nothing. It's one thing to totally disagree with a political view....no problem there, but at least have some personal character/credibility and if you say something ...MEAN IT. Say you're going to leave the country...then LEAVE. Or, better yet, just don't say it IF you don't really mean it.

Well Linda, I dont think its much of a secret I come from a real hoo-rah! democratic family upbringing, so you'll have to be patient with me if I digress sometimes (smile) but I really am at the point where if people cannot 'teach' others to stand on their own two legs first, you cant keep falling back to the government, the government, the bad bad rich people. No matter who is in office, YOUR life is going the way you take it. But I will tell you this, sometimes I question myself for giving up these democratic 'values' instilled in me. Is it like you just think your so much friggin smarter because you swam the circle? You know, like I look at Ron or Pattie Regan, or a Kennedy gone and married a republican?

omg maggie!! How did julia roberts ever wind up with him, ya know? Makes ya think theres something beyond the surface of those two you could ever figure out!

And fenix youre preaching to the wrong one about accents. I could probably communicate with a martian the way my brain works with words. But I will say the eastern European ones give me a little bit of a harder time. But yeah, she's okay when shes not going real real fast on the shows.

dblfugger - I think in many, if not all, parts of life we DO re-evaluate our positions as we change and age. Like Gail Sheenies old book, Passages. Much re-evaluating going on...all throughout life.

sometimes I question myself for giving up these democratic 'values' instilled in me.

For me and how I see the two parties 'values'....they really aren't much different. Like in the area of helping others. BOTH believe in helping others....just in different ways. One by giving a 'hand up' the other by life long 'hand outs'. Both, as I see it are trying to achieve the same goal....but imo, the dems by having the government be the 'nanny' and the republicans by teaching/forcing 'self reliance'.

Is it like you just think your so much friggin smarter because you swam the circle?

HUH? lol Not sure how to take that. Were you referring to me 'going full circle'? Or ???
I know there are those on both sides who were born and raised and still remain with only their party line. But that hasn't been my personal experience.

You know, like I look at Ron or Pattie Regan, or a Kennedy gone and married a republican?

I think these dual-party marriages and families [adding Michael Reagan in there too ] prove that couples/families CAN respect their loved one, even while disagreeing in the political arena. The one's I most enjoy listening to/watching is James Carvel and his wife Madeline (?).

Mags - Formerly hob nobbed. I got tired of swimming with the sharks. I enjoyed the work that I did but got tired of the enviroment I did it in and people I did it for and with. there were people that I truly liked and respected, just not enough to make up for the inanity (when words cannot describe...make one up ) of the remainder of them.

No. I meant that to myself. Like am *I* or anyone one else jaded from what you have lived kinda thing,..or just smug and think youre the smarter for having lived it and see its falseness where others dont? hard to explain. maybe more later.

And yes wholeheartedly agree about passages.

Im a Republican and my wifes a Democrat and I really dont have a problem with that.We discuss politcal views in an intelligent manner and I realize she has her points of view also. We have gotten along extremely well ever since 1971......I just havent found a way to hang her in the garage and get away with it.....

"Pigs at the Trough" by Arianna will explain a lot about her change of heart.
If you read her book there is no terrible "accent" to overcome and then you can maybe make intelligent remarks about her.

Wow, we sure all have different taste in men! I think Alec Baldwin is a big, bloated cow. If Limbaugh can get ahold of 30 oxycontin a day, it shouldn't be too difficult for Baldwin to score some water pills.

I agree Linda. He said he would split the U.S. but he's still around. What a goof!

classic - hang her in the garage.... lol is that one of the kinky ways you enjoy sex? [DON'T answer....just joking because with you it often appears ALL inter-related.]

Now I'm kind of glad I didn't ask, as I originally had intended to, why you didn't get your wife to retire too, so the two of you could 'go play' together. Maybe your 'garage' post answered that question. lol

I never worked in advertising but I did work in marketing and dealt with advertising people and they were nutso. If it was anything like what I did, yeah, she's probably very right. I think that is the result of industries where you are judged by your last project as opposed to your body of work.

KD - When one is over-weight or could use some water-pills because they're retaining water.....they can still change their appearance rather quickly.

When one is thin, non-bloated....but UGLY...that can't be changed.
