Where is Bunni? I wonder if she ever went and got that VOIP? Just saw on the news they've had problems routing calls to 911 through the internet. A woman who had the service - her baby stopped breathing and couldnt get 911 and by the time she ran to a neighbors house, the baby died.....
.. Supposedly the CS rep laughed at her or something. Man, they are in big trouble, they are getting sued left and right. When I did CS, even if I thought it was a joke (and my brother would try to do that alot being funny or you get some stupid calls) but I approached it as serious, no matter how dumb it sounded. I cant believe they did this!!!
Here is one of the articles to read if you are considering VOIP:

Ron, supposedly they have corrected the problem and hooked up with verizon now.
My first thought (being an ebay seller) is people just dont take the time to read the contract!! But its not like they made that stick out or anything...
I wanted to get it., To try it. Now i dont know...

Near, she posted off one time she was sick of the righties on this board. And all the name calling. But she did her share of insulting, so I dont really understand what her problem with it was? Sometimes I think as much as she poked up Bush and quoted every dumb thing he ever said, he still won the election and maybe that was a little too hard for her to swallow? Then she came after me with a vengence about the ellen and pants thing...I never observed her like that...And then of course Twiq had to post about the Pensylvannia burglary... but maybe she just had it here. I've done that with sites or different things? And she did say she was getting into exercising. Maybe she took something round and made it flat? Wish her well in any case...

dblfugger9, I had a different impression of Bunni. She was among the most level headed posters that I have encountered since I first began posting here. She was even able to maintain her composure when dealing with Linda. Her professional experience in dealing with children probably helped her out in this regard. As you probably know, she was a teacher and a librarian.
The only flare that I saw was between you and Bunni. I didn't pay much attention to that.
Remember that unlike traditional phone lines, Vonage service is portable to any location with broadband Internet access. For example, you can have a New York number and receive calls in New York. You can also take your equipment with you on a trip but, when you travel, 911 Dialing will automatically route your call to the local emergency personnel location for the address on file, not your temporary location.
When you sign up for Vonage 911 Dialing service, you fill out a short form that tells us your actual physical address. When you dial 911, the call is routed to the local emergency personnel location designated for the address you register.
When you move or travel, you MUST provide your new location. You can easily update your new location through your web account. Be aware that it can take several days before your new settings take effect.
Since Vonage service is so portable, your 911 call could be from anywhere. We need you to verify the physical location of your phone in order to activate the 911 Dialing feature from the phone you are using.

Helen, I think most of it was in the middle of one lone night and it was pretty much missed out by anyone sleeping. Which is cool by me. I thought she was leveled headed too. Thats why it so surprised me. But apparently it doesn't take much for me to 'flare' with anybody .. whether its intentional or unintentionally when I, or they, hit a sore spot. (But I will reference she didnt go off on fenix & the others in that waitress in vegas thread so I guess I just have a speical way to get under somebody's skin or something....lol.)
With Vonage to me, if you are that up to technology to have it, you would think you'd have a cell phone? Note, I dont have one (a cell phone). My husb does, but I dont. I just dont need one or really want one. But there is also some problems with 911 on cells that until that story, I was unaware of.
But I thought I read somewhere Vonmage is working with Verizon to route calls through their 911 system.

Yes. when you hit that proverbial wall too many times and especially when you are the target of someone using lies and innuendo as a means of personal attack, there's a tendency to descend to a level which you wouldn't ordinarilly consider....mad as hell and not going to take it any more! Some people just leave and some stick around to watch that "someone" self destruct.
About cell phones...I think they are just fantastic! Now, I'm wondering why do I need the expense of a home phone?

LOL - You've got helen pegged, REAL WELL, dbl.
--------
Where is Bunni? She's posted that she reads here once in a while. I miss her posts and while disagreeing with many of her political positions, I respected her over the years.
And, dbl, I think you're taking some things too personally, in this case. But apparently it doesn't take much for me to 'flare' with anybody .. whether its intentional or unintentionally when I, or they, hit a sore spot. (But I will reference she didnt go off on fenix & the others in that waitress in vegas thread so I guess I just have a speical way to get under somebody's skin or something....lol
BECAUSE....imo, there are some lefties here that just have to hold their party line on EACH and EVERY issue discussed. They don't have the ability to just stick to the issue...they HAVE this NEED to make everything personal. Like helen. If you don't agree with her ....then watch out baby. She can't separate the two...they're all one basket.
Bunni wasn't like that. She claimed to be an Independent but ususally sided with the lefts political positions and YES, oh boy YES, she was anti-Bush. BUT she could break away and support/hold a position that didn't agree with the left...and they'd leave her alone when those times occassional occured.
Plus if you'd read bunni's post for very long....she rarely replied back to those who were in disagreement with her positions. She'd state hers...someone might disagree...and that was it. [on the norm] And I think that's why many saw her as 'level headed' BECAUSE she wouldn't get 'down and dirty' like so many lefties here do.
And I did read the threads you're speaking about. Those actions were very unusual for her, imo, you seem to have hit some 'nerve'. Not sure why though. But then we really don't know what's going on in other posters personal lives at any given time. So maybe she hit a rough spot.

yes, helen, i agree. there are times I dont like descending into ugly. in fact, in RL i most often avoid that if I can....
And yes linda, helen was one of the first to 'welcome me' here! Quite a roll if I remember right? [laffing}
Well, I dont pretend to know bunni,so well, but I do believe she had me all wrong. But maybe not. ??
It is often times you find people do not have the same perception of yourself that you have.
edit to add: unusual wasnt the word, linda. I must have unintentionally tripped something. at least it started out that way........

I do too, dbl. That's why one doesn't continue posting here too long if they don't have that 'tough skin' I always refer to. My perception was it really had nothing to do with you, personally, she was just fed up with the whole thing.
It is often times you find people do not have the same perception of yourself that you have. Imo, that's because they don't have the ability to separate one part of that persons personal being, say one's political position, from the 'whole' of the person. ie: If you think and feel this way politically, there can be absolutely NOTHING redeemable about you.
And yes, I definitely KNOW some here don't have the same perception of me that I have of myself. Doesn't bother me because I know what type of person I am...I know how WRONG THEIR perception of me is and that it's mostly based on my political positions. It's THEIR problem, not mine. And it won't be changing a thing about MY character, my belief system, about my positive points. Just because THEY limit their knowledge of Linda, form their opinion on only my political views, doesn't mean squat to me.
edit to add: unusual wasnt the word, linda. I must have unintentionally tripped something. at least it started out that way........ Well I personally don't think you did - I think it was something going on with bunni at that time....but that's just my opinion. If something is unintentionally 'tripped' we have no way of knowing why anything we do upsets another....unless we ask...or unless they tell us.
And dbl, when you post on these boards long enough..you'll see we ALL have our good and bad days. Some more than others, of course. [no names mentioned].....so you may have just caught her on one of her days rather than it being ONLY because of your actions.
I mean AFTER ALL....it was such an unimportant subject....whether women want to dress up or be more casual - and whether some are more feminine than others or not.

Gee ,linduh, I think you need to explain (justify)yourself in even more lurid detail....it's just too fascinating!
I do like how you know so much about bunni , her thoughts and feelings, especially since you know she's not here to see your posts and speak for herself.

And giving 'that who so demands any attention she can get from me' ....my stalker....that brings back another positive I saw in bunni. She had good character.
One time while crowfarm was once again lying about something I'd previous stated....bunni agreed with cf's version/memory of what she believed I had said. After much discussion, bunni took the time to look up that particular thread for PROOF. After reviewing it she apologized to me, admitted she had been incorrect, and told crowfarm she felt she owed an apology. So did another poster who also can be honest even though political positions are different.
Of course, I never got that apology...and not only that crowfarm still to her last post on this subject...denies she lied or that it WAS proven she had been wrong.
See the difference in their character? It stands out loud and clear to me. This behavior to me, it's how one can easily 'see' the character/morals/values of another poster. When even though they disagree with almost every political position you may hold....they are HONEST and when wrong have no problem admitting it.
Others, like crowfarm, when proven wrong over and over and over again.....get meaner, nastier, more vile...and then [b]STALK and HARASS the person they lied about forever, as we get to see each and everyday right before our eyes. the crowfarm show.....
Anything for a tiny bit of attention. how sad.
Two quite different levels of honesy, sincerity, and many other good qualities one looks for when evaluating those we meet in life...especially when they are on the other side of the political aisle.

yes linda I laughed to read one might stop to consider somebodys politics in the middle of an attraction to another? That was really absurd!
Was it cf who suggested that?
And yes agreed on the other. whole lotta unknowns to try to equal known. But that never does stop me from wondering........?
