Why do people collect stupid stuff?
Do enema bag collectors have guests over and say, "Hey Joe, want to see my enema bag collection?" I found one. I looked it up and what do you know they are hot. Why?
Here's another one...
Toasters. Some guy has 300 toasters. Why? How much toast can one person eat?

Hey Terri--different strokes for different folks!! I have every friggin library card from every library I ever joined. Not to mention my wonderful growing list of credit cards that I have been amassing since the late 80's. Sure--snicker--but someday--these plastic beauties will be worth-------$1.00
edited to add--think that toaster guy bought my last toaster up for bid for a rediculous high bid. Yes---Collect--Collect--Collect!

Jeanyu, you may be sitting on a goldmine. eBay recently posted guidelines on selling credit cards to collectors. Can't remember where I saw it, but it's out there somewhere.

How about the ones that buy old, used, stinky sneakers? I've seen them for sale on ebay too. Plus all the ads say "cleaned to eBay's standards." Just what the heck does that mean and where on earth do you find out?? People are strange....

A year or so ago, I sold a rubber hose (NOS) that was some sort of personal hygiene dohickey to a very nice woman who, along with her payment, sent me a complete list of personal hygiene products that fetch big big money....Older stuff, specific types/colors of rubber most desirable...These items were not "collectibles" per say (eg. hang a shelf, gather together your collection, and impress your guests) but rather "entertainment" for the guests (use your imagination)....Not my particular bag (pardon the pun) but if that's what floats your boat, well then, paddles up to ya!....
I can understand "odd" collections....I myself have a few items that provoke the response "oh, gross"....(hoof items, taxidermy animals, skulls & hides)....But I ran across one the other day that skeeved even me....It was a collection of "art" (oh, and I use that term lightly) pictures that (it appeared) where created using human hair instead of paint.....(of course it didn't help that these items were laying on the lawn of a very shabby foreclosed house, quite damp from the rain the night before....)....YUK!!!!....But someone found these to be attractive....
If there weren't folks out there who collect the "odd" there would be much less selling on eBay!.....Now if I could just find someone who was into dryer lint & dog hair, I'd be rollin' in the bucks!!!! hehehehehehehehehehehe

I know someone who collects nudie token coins
and know another person who collects used socks (don't ask, not telling)
Me? I'm just a boring collector
my name is what I collect plus: message buttons, comic trading cards, and Nippon/Noritake.
