Subject: Special Session = Special Election
This needs to be in place now, to get rid of those deadbeat Democrat public
officials
Senator Proposes Special Elections If Work Doesn't Get Done
May 31, 2005 1:51 pm US/Central
St. Paul (AP) A state senator thinks he has an idea that would hold
lawmakers accountable and avoid special sessions.
St. Cloud Republican Dave Kleis is proposing special elections for
all
201 state lawmakers whenever the Legislature fails to set the state
budget by the end of the regular session.
Kleis said it would be an incentive for legislators to get their job
done -- and if they don't, voters can immediately remove them from
office.
The special election would be held in July and would be paid for by
lawmaker's salary and per diems for the months of May, June and July.
The special session this year was caused by Democrats who refused to offer a budget proposal until 3 days before the regular session was to end, knowing that their stalling would lead to a special session and a higher paycheck for all DFL'ers. Most Repulicans have already rejected the extra pay for the special session while most DFL'ers will be collecting. The original budget offer from Govenor Tim Palenty was given to the states legislators nearly 4 months earlier only to see Senate Democrats stall and take pot shots at the Governors proposals without offering any type of counter-proposals.

Let me get this straight... if your state legislature is unable to agree upon a budget, one of it's members thinks that the solution to this would be to completely blow the budget out of the water by holding a special election and you think this is a good thing?
Statewide elections cost millions of dollars. Just how much are your state legislators being paid thay this guy thinks three months of their pay is going to cover all of the costs?
And to think ... people say that democrats lack fiscal responsibility.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Here in Washington, it will cost 4 million to have another governor's election.

Once again it just shows that if the Republicans don't like the rules, they want to change them in mid-stream.
Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.

President George Bush: "Over time the truth will come out."
President George Bush: "Our people are going to find out the truth, and the truth will say that this intelligence was good intelligence. There's no doubt in my mind."
Bush was right. The truth did come out and the facts are he misled Congress and the American people about the reasons we should go to war in Iraq.

stonecold - Similar to what the revolting Californian's did.....held a special election to 'out' their governor.
And it's obvious that many CA voters agreed with their money being used to oust an idiot they didn't want to stay in office. And it worked....he's long gone.

Cowfarm,
You of all people need to shut your trap. No one here calls anyone more names than you. Does the words neocon ring a bell? So blow it out your port hole and as usual, your posting is a distraction from your real personality. You blame everyone here for your own Demomoron short comings. I for one simply won't allow you to spread your lies without a rebuttal of the truth. You are am embarrassment to everyone here.
