Ok, Maui says if I want a ponderment, I have to make one up myself.. humph! So here goes:
For one million dollars, would you just disappear and give up all contact with everyone you know, including family, for a month, and not say goodbye or explain?
How about for a year?
If it weren't for my kids I'd say yes, but I couldn't leave them not knowing what happened to me... just couldn't do that to them.

For a month?? Agghh...that's a tough one. The consequences (and I know what one would be) wouldn't be worth it. Damnit.

Nope, couldn't do it, not me. My son (8 years old) and my Mom wouldn't talk to me ever again. Of course, my husband would be wondering where his dinner was! hehe

This is an easy one for me.
For one million dollars I would have no problem disappearing for a month. I'm known for disappearing for days at a time, a few times as long as a week, so I could stretch it to a month.
A year would be too long, unless I got one million dollars a month...
Barry (maybe I would hide in Kiheicat's attic for a month) Barris

Don't have an attic, Barry, sorry...only a crawl space. You could hide out in the garage tho, where the pc is, lol

Yes, no question~my husband would be plenty freaked ~but I'd come back after a month in sumptin' slinky driving his dream car, Jaguar xk120~and he'd be over it in about 1 second.
A year? hmmm, could I stay at a nice spa?

mimigigi, that reminds me of a joke:
A woman won the lottery and told her husband that she had some things to buy in town and to start packing. He asked her if he should pack for warm weather or cold and she said "I don't care...just as long as you're gone by the time I get back home."

Kcat,
I would love to disappear for a month. I really don't think anyone would miss me. They would just think I was at a meeting.
Just think, no meetings for a month, no cooking for a month, no cleaning house for a month and no Visitors Center for a month. FREEDOM! and a million dollars! Sounds good to me.

Some days yes, other days I would say no.
But mostly I don't think I could put my husband or friends through the worry it would cause.

Hi Kiheicat
Well, no I don't! I envisioned Maui as being a tiny place where everyone knows everyone else, ony one major town, etc...I guess that vision could be wrong.
I read in some catalog that they were made in Maui though...

loosecannon, Maui's population is somewhere between 120,000 and 150,00, depending on whose report you're reading, lol... add to that a couple thousand tourists incoming every day too..
From Kihei, where I am, to Lahaina is about a 45 minute to an hour drive... to go to the northernmost point, Napili, would take about an hour and a half. To get from here to Hana on the south windward side from here takes about 3 or 4 hours. So, although there is the attitude here that everyone knows everyone else and the whole island does have a small town feel, it is actually bigger than most ppl realize.
My guess would be that the guitar place would be either in Lahaina or Kahului, but I don't know.
I had no idea. Things just aren't always what we imagine. I thought after the Big Island and Oahu, the rest of the islands were more sparsely populated. And Maui is greater in area than I thought too.
But I'm not lucky enough to have ever visited Hawaii. Only two states I've never been to. Rhode Island and Hawaii.
Thanks for learnin' me up.
