I'm in my first month with a cable modem and am finding the service to be slower than I expected. The problem is, I'm not sure the actual speed I should be getting. This is a request to all the other AW users with cable modems. If possible, I need you to do a speed test so that I have something to compare to. Go to http://www.computingcentral.com and click on the link that says "speed test". This page is two web pages that send a small amount of data and then see the speed of that transfer. Could you note those numbers here?

Mine came up with these numbers:

741.8 kbps
90.9K bytes per second

Wow - couldn't believe my numbers:
2756.8 Kbps
337.8K bytes/sec

I think a few nights back it was around 90K bytes/sec and just a few minutes ago it was 178.6K bytes/sec.

Sure seems to make a big difference depending on when I try.

What are your numbers at now? This is still in beta testing in your area, right? I wonder if that would affect the speed.

Yep still beta testing and I plan on giving them an earful tomorrow! Wow you guys are definitely on warp while I'm still operating on impulse power. Here are mine:

370.9 Kbps
45.5 K bytes/sec

Pretty bad for cable I think! Keep those numbers coming! I need ammunition!

Your line speed:

807.9 Kbps

99 K bytes/sec

Road Runner cable, Northeast Ohio, Sunday morning. We see higher speeds at times, but that seems to be about average lately.
