From the Vendio Community page--description of the Round Table:
"A place to kick back, relax, and have fun! Share a story, tell a joke, write a poem, make a friend..."
Hahaha--seems more enemies are made here than friends!

With that negative observation, is it your intention to be a friend or an enemy?

Neither--I don't have time for the petty political arguing that goes on in here (so I won't express with which side I agree) but I just thought it was a funny description. And it wasn't a negative observation, just an observation. I will admit, however, that the bantering back and forth is, at times, humorous. It seems that people like to complain about so many things but do nothing to make things better. I think some people like to argue just for the sake of arguing.

It's true that there are some here with a narrow minded view but I don't think that you can categorize most political topics discussed here as trivial or "petty".
If you want to avoid politics, you can go ahead and tell a story or a joke. Feel free to have fun! And by the way, it's good to know that you are reading the comments and enjoying the humor!

Actually, I didn't say the political topics were petty, but the arguing is petty. Basically, it's mudslinging and name-calling. I am very active in politics and do have strong political beliefs but I don't get into the kind of "discussions" that go on here because they are unlikely to persuade me to join the "other" side. What I see here is hatred towards people based on their political statements and I would hope that no viable political party truly espouses hatred towards fellow human beings. Anyway, I do enjoy the "show" and plan to keep "watching"!

You stinking liberal wussie coward, there's no name calling in here!
Seriously, everyone here who posts in the political threads knows what to expect. It's rare that anything ever goes beyond just name calling, but it DOES happen. Your best bet is to create an account that does not reflect your eBay account and jump right into the discussions and name-calling.
No, no one's mind will be changed by any of these discussions/arguments, but it's fun hearing both sides of an issue. Most threads start making sense on both sides until the name-calling starts.
Waste of time? That's for you to decide.

Confrontation with opposing views is healthy and serves to energize a good discussion. It's the use of personal attacks, lies and attempts to skew the truth that disrupts a discussion and makes it appear petty.

LOL shawn - Welcome to the nut factory....we're all here for your viewing enjoyment. Join in ...but if you're not a liberal dem...then be VERY careful of how you respond to helen.
While she says:

She obviously doesn't really mean what she says...because she's the quickest to use personal attacks, cuss, invite people who don't agree with her to leave and to tell them where to put their statements if she doesn't agree with them.
Other than that, you have great skills when it comes to observing how we 'function' down here. It's called DISfunctional.

Yes, Helen, but you could have just as easily linked to ANY political argument on the RT and seen the same thing.
Basically as soon as you see the words 'Linduh' or 'Crowfart' in a post you know the thread is on the downhill spiral. Even if Linda and Crowfarm haven't posted yet

Confrontation with opposing views
Wow Helen that is a very meek statement.
There is no confrontation with a certain poster in here. I was always wrong and told that many times, even when I was right. C&P repeating everything said and then saying nothing. Taking up valuable space so that maybe a decent discussion could be had. Since I have put that poster on ignore I see that she has almost followed every post I made. I imagine it is to get me to respond so she can go into her rampage against me again. Well, this is what is says
You are currently ignoring posts from crowfarm. Click here to view them
Never in a million years will I ever respond to her unamerican threads. And you encourage her...

I agree with that statement but to attack that opinion with horrible statements makes opinions end up being trashed. Do we have constantly be called names. The repeat of C&P of every statement. The constant correcting of spelling errors. And many statements that have nothing to do with a thread. How childish and how ridiculous.
If someone makes a statement or cuts and pasts a news article why not have a decent discussion. Not here as it will never happen. The trash starts very close to the beginning of the thread.
I read discussion boards throughout the internet and none are like this. Yes,those discussion boards don't agree with each other but they don't call names and have the going ons as in this RT

Welcome! For the record, let me be the first to accuse you of being Maggie.
Prof, couldn't be Maggie, she was busted by the cops the other day:
---------------
An 80-year-old woman, who uses a walker and an oxygen tank, has been busted for running an escort service from her New Jersey apartment, state police said on Monday.
Vera Tursi, who rarely left her low-income apartment in Lindenwold, took phone calls from men who answered her Internet ad for "August Playmates" listed under "Personal Escort Services" and other headings for at least six months until her arrest in May, according to police.
Tursi, who inherited the business from her late daughter, was charged with promoting prostitution, a felony.
"We doubt very much whether she will see jail time," said New Jersey State Police Capt. Al Della Fave. "She will probably get some type of probation, and as long as she keeps herself clean while she is on probation, she'll stay out of prison."
Evidence in the case will be considered by a grand jury.
Tursi was charged with sending escorts to meet men depending on the clients' preferences and which of her escorts were available, Della Fave said.
Her activities were discovered by police running an investigation called "Operation Risky Business" which cracked down on several escort services, leading to the arrest of 42 people and the seizure of more than $70,000.
A word to the wise ain't necessary, it's the stupid ones that need the advice."
