The stores around where I live are trying to make a game out of what you pay at the register. I went to Wal-Mart today and grabbed an item off an End-Cap thinking I was getting a good buy. On the End-cap was a big sign saying the item was $3.84 when I got home and looked at the receipt I had been charged $9.46 for the item. At Aldi's you buy produce at your own risk-it is usually three times as high as what the signs say. When you bring it to their attention....oh the signs wrong it went up this week. So now days you only guess what you will pay when you get to the register, the secret is in the barcode. And maybe you didn't get it on sale after all. The stores are counting on us always being in a big hurry.

Frustrating isn't it? Maddening too.

I have had that happen to me more than once, just not at WalMart.

Sometimes I think they put these ads in the paper, [always done ahead of time] then they don't change the prices in their bar-code readers. Intentional? I don't know...but it does happen.

Something I've have happen more than the above though is their ads throw a 'leader' [sale item] in them....then when you arrive on the first day of the sale....first thing in the morning...they don't have any of those items. THAT is deception to me.

And yes, I too believe they rely on the fact most are too busy to check/watch as their items are rung up.

We have one store that does that every week. They never have the ad merchandise,so you get a rain check, two months later they still don't have it.

Mah, we have one store here that gives you the item free if its charged wrong. Another will let you substitute a different brand of equal measurement if they are out of stock. But there are a few that does that with the rainchecks, and "we'll be restocking in two days" thing. Yesterday I was at the courtesy counter and a women in front of me was getting back a dollar and some change for something they overcharged her the day before. All I could think was and you burned how much gas to come back here and get that dollar?

CVS (aka old Revco) does this a lot. It's for that reason that I watch what the prices are being rung up. I also check my sales receipt before I leave the parking lot. I catch these things at least once a week. It's happened to me at Tops, Giant Eagle, Walmart, CVS and K-Mart.

More often than not, they blame the register. IOW, the price wasn't entered right in computer.

lol...classic...I have no doubt that's who's to blame.

----------

Having a family member and a couple of friends in the grocery business...when I've asked them if this incorrect price thing is intentional...they have assured me it's normally not. They just said they're changing/entering so many thousands of prices that some end up not getting changed and some are just accidently skipped over when the clerks are changing the whole list.

When you bring it to their attention....oh the signs wrong it went up this week.

Some stores will give you the sign price if the sign is still up. Others will not. Menards is one that falls into the later category. I think they have it printed on the sale signs, that after a certain date the sale price is no longer valid even if the sign is up.

yep-its a Bush conspiracy alright

Especially when it comes to gas prices.

Another one that is starting to see the light. You took the first step in realizing there is a problem. You admitted to yourself who the problem is. Good job classic.

Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.

Bush was right. The truth did come out and the facts are he misled Congress and the American people about the reasons we should go to war in Iraq.

I worked at a garden center and every monday was a headache. The person responsible for the sale items never removed the signs. Guess what the customer is always right and got the items for the sale price. The sale price was always honored if the sign was still up.
