Best computer related information site there is. I know computer "heads" that bring offerings and burn incense for this site. Not associated with Microsoft. Excellent magazine too. The annual "2000 tips" is fantastic. Drive your 'pute through "Win Tune" and "Browser Tune." You may be surprised how badly or how well your 'pute/browser is doing

You an inventor, an entrepreneur, doing a self-designed project and cannot find a product you need? I searched the web for days trying to find a company to purchase unmarked PVC pipe from. Found my info on this site in minutes. Just enter mock info in the business brackets.

You are welcome ladies. Being addicted to Internet reconnaissance, in the last 10 years I have accumulated, evaluated, and used numerous Net sites, and continue to do so. Many are fabulous and, surprisingly, many are not well known in ratio to Net users.

Thought I would pass some along. Don't know what sites may be in conflict with AW. AW will just have to excise the ones they are opposed to being linked to or discussed.

Anyone want any Gopher, Veronica, and Jughead sites?

For those who set up their file folders on their desktop in a particular order, as I do, and want the files to remain in order of choice and at a particular resolution, go download this simple little ditty.

It is called EZ DESK:

http://members.aol.com/ezdesk95/index.html

Fast download and one of the simplest little programs I have ever open and setup.

As you can see, there is EZ Version 1.8, and further down page under "Availability" is the recent version.

-Open this baby, let it ride on your task bar or desktop, or both.
-Arrange your desktop files, as you want them.
-Set the resolution you always use.
-Click once on the EZ Desk icon.
-Save resolution.
-Save Folder layout.
-Your done.

From now on if 'pute mixes and relocates your folders, just hit Folder Layout and then Restore.
If resolution changes, just restore to previous setting.

Your desktop settings are instantly restored to previous saved settings. You're done. Actually, using the program is quicker than explaining it.

Suppose to be a trial download, I have been using it (trial ver) for 3 years .

Neat stuff, Sarge. Thanks!

BTW, I find steel pipe to have much better ballistic qualities than PVC for constructing potato cannons.

Want to really dig into IP = domain = servers, and reverse search that can find domain/server addresses, telephone numbers, registrant and administarion info, jump directly to the site, etc.?

http://www.mse.co.jp/ip_domain/index_e.shtml

Anyone interested in a list of addresses of Mafia members or directory of all legal bordellos in Nevada? Actually exists on FTP search site but specific list (link) is presently dead. I wonder why?

I should have did this a long time ago. Finally cleaning out bookmarks and other older files. Incredible how much I accumulated over the years. Also forgot how good and usable some of the sites are, even more today.

I'm looking for a site to find active military personal. I am not, nor have I been, in the military.

PS: What's with the second part of your post? Could have done without that.

A priceless program if it works, is stable, and does not "glitch" the system. Have/are you use(ing) it?

Which application do you recommend?

sgtmike: Well, the truth is, I just installed it yesterday. But I have gotten in a few hours of surfing ad free using the freeware version; no crashes yet. I'm connecting through AOL using DSL and browsing with IE 5.01. So far, so great!

James.

sgtmike, I highly recommend WebWasher, an add-on filtering browser (works as a local proxy server) to remove the banner ads, pop-up windows, background graphics and to control cookies, etc. It's absolutely free, takes up very little space and it's a breeze to install. The program is offered free to the home user by the esteemed German company, Siemens. You can turn it on and off when you want and you can choose what you want to filter.

I've been using it for 4 months with absolutely no problems. Here is the URL to the page that explains the program. http://www.webwasher.com/en/software/wwash/index.htm

Thank you. Sounds good, also. Problem is, I am now replacing rather than dumping my accumulation of programs.

Owning a computer is like my outdoor sport hobbies, gotta' try every new gimmick.
