I stay in 2 to 4 Motels a month. I noticed how hard the Maids work. In talking to several maids I found very few people leave a tip for the Maid. These people mostly Gals often clean up to 15 rooms a day. If we all left a buck or 2 it would make a big difference in their lives. I don't think most people that say in Motels realize or think about what a difference a couple bucks would make.

Did you get it Kiara I don't stay in Motels. So it is impossible for me to leave a tip....Evidently you have a problem reading. What am I supposed to do drive through a motel and when I see a maid give her a tip.
Now I see the grade school coming out again with your jumping smilies. How cute, what is your age 5 as that is what you act like, oh pardon me 5 year olds act better than you.
It's not my fault that the motel owner doesn't want to pay a living wage. Now we have to start tipping everyone because people don't want to pay living wages. How does anyone know what a maid makes anyway? Maybe the maid better talk to the motel owner instead of the traveler. Oh the gullible traveler she tells you that she is not getting a living wage and right away you open you pocket book. Watch out everyone that maid might be a Republican or do you ask her first. Tell me what is a living wage anyway. Everyone will tell you they are not making enough money so we tip everyone. Get real people.

START tipping ? Everyone?
No, tipping has been around for many years ...you haven't noticed ??? How long does something have to exist before you notice?
Not everyone just certain people ...waiters, sky caps, hairdressesr , etc.

Hey All, want to see STUPIDITY at its best read Libras63 statements.
Libra63 said, "Since I don't stay in Motels" but the poor old confused woman just had to make STUPID comments about my posts that had nothing to do with her. That is called STUPIDITY AT ITS BEST.
I will 100% guarantee Libra63 has stayed in Motels and I will 100% also guarantee she never left a tip.
Libra63 you need to change your mindset and get a life!!!!!!!!!!

Are Republican maids to be tipped also? How about Libertairians? In my travels the tip is to based on length of stay.
However based on the "hard" work that is done, realize that the bed linens are not changed every day unless requested.

most of the women who hold low end job do not have marketable skills, you wonder how they make it,but they do,usually they have a home which they bot long ago and their mortgage payment is low or they rent cheaply.
Bigpeepa has a good idea,I will leave a tip next time I stay at a motel/hotel.
Most do not report their tip to IRS,you's surprised how it adds up,like in an Asian buffet, the waiters are paid say 15 dollars per shift but the tips of 1 -2 dollars per head can add up to 80 -120 in a day!!all tax free!!

I can't remember the last time I stayed in a Motel but since bigpeepa says I do I must as he is the soothsayer of the vendio board.
I will tell you something bigpeepa. I worked in a service area all my life and I received one tip which was 49 years ago and that was because I had to wait 8 hours for this person. 8 hours that I didn't receive any pay. My wages were substandard but I didn't expect someone to leave a tip. That was my job, the job I chose and BTW how do you know how much they make. Do you sit around talking personally to these maids. Or-well I am not going to say it....

This coming from you bigpeepa that is a laugh. Do you realize how silly that sounded? What is my mindset? Do you understand life?
What kind of a life do you have traveling all the time, but I bet your wife is happy you aren't home. If I had you for a husband I would be.

The crux of this problem is that so many people employed in the service industry are not represented by a labor union and as a result are grossly underpaid. In many cases, these employees are left to depend on tips rather than their unfairly low salary. In effect, by tipping, the public is paying their salary instead of the employer. For example, in the case of the motel...the owner of the motel benefits from nearly free labor since the cost of that labor is paid when the motel customers tip his employees.
A well organized work force would not have to depend on tips in order to survive.

Libra - just out of curiosity - do you have this same attitude when it comes waiters/waitresses and your hairdresser or does Peepa just have you on the defensive?

No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...

This is a true statement. Because even if the service is bad, I find you really do not want to NOT leave a tip, and that cant be right either.

I never stay at motels anymore, but I do tip at the hairdressers and at restaurants. I use to deliver Pizza so I know the tips are appreciated. Some of my best tips came from Hospitals and Funeral homes.

I'm more of a hotel girl myself - but I always leave tips for the maids.
This thread reminds me of something that happened years ago, but I still get angry when I think about it.
I used to have to do a fair amount of traveling for my job and I always put the maid tips on my expense reports. One of the jobs of the assistant plant manager was to review all of the expense reports. We got a new assistant plant manager and he told all of the people who left tips for the maids not to do it anymore. The idiot said he had never heard of tipping a maid. (Tips for cab drivers and at restaurants were ok - just not maids!).
My boss at the time said he never tipped the maids either - but he also said maybe that explained why he never got good service
I still left tips - I just used my own money.

Yes his post had something to do with me and everyone else on this board. He said
If we all left a buck or 2 it would make a big difference in their lives The definitive word in his sentence is all.
Yes fenix I just had my hair cut and I tipped the hairdresser 20%. When I eat in restaurants we tip 20 or 25%.
But what I was trying to get across that I don't stay in Motels so how can I tip. Evidently bigpeepa doesn't understand english. That is what I typed and that is what I meant. So if he wants to give an extra tip for me go ahead. I am sure she would appreciate it.

Well miss crowfarm since this is a free country I assume I can post to a thread or is that taboo. Why not in your spare time write rules for the round table. I am sure Vendio wouldn't mind. They should include but not limited to people who can post, subjects, how many times a poster can post, Who can call names and who can't. etc.
Evidently you couldn't see I was joking but of course democrats don't joke. Evidently bigpeepa has the means to leave a few dollars and that is fine with me. He can do what ever he pleases with his money, but please don't tell me what I can do with mine but then since I don't stay in motels I can't leave it there.

Just a question to Kiara. Is it alright for bigpeepa to call Linda and myself names?
Please read this thread carefully and see how many times he calls us (me) stupid. But I guess that is okay with you. Now count how many times I called bigpeepa a name?
Oh well it seems like a double standard in this RT and it will continue. I don't see it changing in the future.
But Kiara I will not call crowfarm stupid again, ah hem, but I bet she will continue calling names as that is the only way she knows how to post. Oh I forgot idoit. I will include that also. Those are some really bad names.

Libra - You have ever right to post whatever you wish to post, and I do wish you'd quit worrying about it...and what they say to you. Let it roll off your back and just consider the source it's coming from. We can all see the double standard some here support....it's obvious to everyone who can read.

Is that the right answer?
Hey! I'm not the board monitor here. Everybody do what the hell you wanna do and don't come whining to me about any double standard crap because I only care about what I do...... (even though what the rest of you do amuses me greatly and I can't help but comment on it at times).
