People don't blame Democrats for wanting all the infromation about this Bolton guy before they vote!!! Looks like the White House might be hiding something. If not why aren't they turning over all the infromation asked for about this guy Bolton?

Bush Faces Decision on Bolton Nomination
May Use Recess Appointment to Bypass Senate
By LIZ SIDOTI, AP

John Bolton faced tough questions about his history of blunt talk and U.N. skepticism at his hearing.

WASHINGTON (June 21) - President Bush faces a politically thorny situation - and stark choices - now that Senate Democrats twice have blocked John Bolton's confirmation as U.N. ambassador.

The president could withdraw the nomination, authorize further concessions to Democrats over access to information they seek or bypass lawmakers altogether by appointing the former State Department official to the job temporarily without the Senate's OK.

But any of those options could leave the president appearing weak as he confronts sagging poll numbers and fights to stave off a lame-duck label just six months into his final term.

At a White House news conference Monday, the president left open the possibility of circumventing the Senate when he sidestepped a question on whether he would appoint Bolton to the ambassador's post when Congress leaves Washington for a July 4 recess.

"It's time for the Senate to give him an up-or-down vote. Now,'' the president said.

But Democrats made clear they weren't budging and most stood together to defeat a GOP effort to force a final vote on Bolton. The Senate voted 54-38, six shy of the total needed to advance his nomination. The vote represented an erosion in support from last month's failed Republican effort.

Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, who voted in May to advance the nomination, switched positions and urged Bush to consider another candidate, while only three Democrats crossed party lines.

You asked: Why did Senate Majority Leader Frist vote against cloture on the Bolton nomination?

Democrats have demanded that the administration check a list of 36 U.S. officials against names in secret national security intercepts that Bolton requested and received. They also want documents related to the preparation of testimony that Bolton planned to deliver - but ultimately never gave - in the House in July 2003 about Syria's weapons capability.

In remarks on the Senate floor, Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, the lead Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a chief critic of Bolton, said White House Chief Staff Andrew Card had offered to provide some of the Syria information.

"I indicated to him that was not sufficient,'' Biden said. Rather, Biden said Democrats want the administration to turn over all information they seek.

Straw Poll results below

Should George W. Bush bypass the Senate and appoint John Bolton?
No 70%
Yes 30%
Total Votes: 49,260

I still say I don't want the people to vote on someone without knowing all about them.

Hey Bush the democrats and law makers from your own party are saying, you want a up or down vote no problem. We will give you a up or down vote as soon as you release the information your holding back.

Come on Bush show us all you are not hiding something.

The wacko right like Frist can't blame this one on the Democrats. BTW what a beating Frist has taken in the last few months. The republicans should think about replacing him. He's inefficient.

Crow, With more and more Americans seeing through the Bush/Cheney lies and failures. With more level minded republican law makers distancing themselves away from the Bush/Cheney fiasco. The wacko right wing phony people that call themselves conservative Christians on this board are seeing their political dreams falling apart.

Crow the wackos on this board are frantic and show it with their posts. Oh well we tried to tell them they were making a mistake now they have to live with the Bush/Cheney lies and failures.

I can remember the uproar from mostly people that called themselves conservative republicans caused when Clinton wanted to start normalizing relations with Viet Nam.

Now 10 years later when Bush is really pushing ties with Viet Nam we don't hear a peep out of this bunch of phony PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE MONEY CROWD.

Thirty years later with 50,000 dead Americans in Viet Nam. Bush wants to "normalize relations" with yet another country that can supply cheap labor for more American Companies.

Its a crime what the Bush/Cheney gang are doing. Its a shame how they tricked well meaning truly religious people for their votes.

The only frantic posters on this board are the screamer, bigpeepa and the crowfarm as you can tell by the way they post.

Oh well we tried to tell them they were making a mistake now they have to live with the Bush/Cheney lies and failures

Do you think we would listen to you and all your bull roar. That's a big laugh.

Another stupid AOL poll where most of the votes either come from children or teens. You prove to me bigpeepa that the people voting are only voting once and are of the age to vote. and then I just might believe it.

I don't know why you care about the past history of Bolton when you took the word of Kerry. They didn't release all the information about him either, but from what I can gather you voted for him...

lol.....no he's on the road again charging republicans three times as much for the stuff he sells...
-------

people that call themselves conservative Christians on this board are seeing their political dreams falling apart.

Once again...I don't see that at all. I see the dems continually blocking/obstructing ANY issues the republicans are working to fix.

So...I don't see MY political dreams falling apart...I see the dems putting themselves in the situation where they're going to lose MORE seats in 2006, because of their LACK of action.

And on the info requested about Bolton....each and everytime the dems have used the EXCUSE that they need more information...they've been given it. But they just keep finding MORE and MORE things they want before they SAY [LIE] they'll let it go to an up or down vote.

It's just one more excuse the're using to block this nomination...and they THINK they're fooling the public...but they're not. They could continue playing the 'we need to see this info first' for the rest of this President's term.
I don't see that happening. The republicans are fed up that once again the dems have broken their agreement about letting Bolter go to a vote when the 14 moderates agreed to do so, when they also agreed on the Federal judges. Obviously their 'word/promise/agreement' means nothing to them. Total lack of character on their part.

And I'm sure they deserve it after listening to him rant and rave about how bad the republicans are.

They MORE than earn their tip from peepa. Having to listen to him while remaining polite wouldn't be worth the $1.00 - $2.00 he gives them.

Linda_K and Libra63,

I have more bad news for you both. If you both remember right I charged only wacko right wing phony republicans like you two extra for my wares.

The bad news for you is, in the last few months there are far less wacko republicans like you gals around. It looks like a lot of people that once shared your wacko thoughts and supported your mindsets are no longer around.

The good news is Bush and Cheney have turned out to be 2 of the best candidates the moderate Republicans and Democrats ever had.

A example of this turn around showing the Majority of Americans now want a more moderate Government happened today.

Linda_K's wish to cut public funding to National Public Broadcasting got shot down BIG TIME TODAY. Level heads are starting to prevail again in America.

LOL....yes, I did read where they will now get some money.

BUT...they ALSO have elected a republican as president and have a man as CEO of the organization who will SEE to it that the liberal bias is balanced.

I'm not unhappy about that. I'm glad to see there will be more balance brought to those two organizations.

The battle for control of public broadcasting seesawed yesterday as the embattled Corporation for Public Broadcasting chose a former Republican Party official as its new president, and the House of Representatives restored $100 million in cuts proposed for PBS television and National Public Radio by Republicans in Congress.

The day's events showed the political muscle of the public broadcasting community that descended on Washington this week with an army of PBS station managers lobbying Congress to restore financial support for series like Masterpiece Theatre and The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. But they also demonstrated the tenacity of Kenneth Y. Tomlinson, the controversial chairman of CPB, in his campaign to purge the agency of what he says is the organization's "liberal bias."

"This is a civil war over public broadcasting going on -- make no mistake about it," said Jeff Chester, executive director of the Center for Digital Democracy, a Washington-based liberal media watchdog group.
Chester decried the selection of Patricia S. Harrison, former chair of the Republican Party, for the $170,000-a-year job as president and CEO of CPB, characterizing it as the crowning blow in what he sees as a campaign by Tomlinson to "stack" CBP with "arch-conservative" board members.

"That's the kind of thing you hear only when a Republican is involved," said Tim Graham, director of media analysis for Washington's Media Research Center, a conservative media watchdog group.

"Democrats have served in these kinds of positions to no controversy. Why is that?" he asked rhetorically, pointing out that no one alleged partisanship when Frank Mankiewicz, campaign manager for 1972 Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern, was named the first president of NPR.

Linda_K, what you call "balance" will be short lived and Public Broadcasting will go back to Unbiased programing.

Linda_K your sides wacko ideas about what America can and can't listen to or watch lost. Now no words from goggle will change that.

As a matter of fact it doesn't look like people that shared you views are getting very much that was promised them. Now I see plenty of people that shared your views already blaming fellow right wing Republicans for not delivering what they promised.

Like I said Bush/Cheney have become the best candidates Moderate Republicans and Democrats have had in a long time.

About me working for a better America by meeting and talking to people. Don't worry Linda_K you and Libra can keep goggle busy.

I will keep real people that vote busy, by informing them about what the wacko right wingers views are for a better America.

No, it was a long time ago but you are to dumb to think of anything new to say.

So what if he charges the repugs more ?

He doesn't put a gun to their heads and force them to buy anything.

If Repugs are so stupid it's not Bigpeepa's fault
