U.S. military jet hits building at Colo. base
SAN FRANCISCO, June 30 (Reuters) - A U.S. Navy F-18 fighter jet returning from a training flight hit a building after landing on Thursday at a Colorado Air Force Base and the pilot was taken to a local hospital, a base spokeswoman said.
Lt. Caroline Wellman, a spokeswoman for Buckley Air Force Base located just outside of Denver, said the aircraft lost brake power on landing.
She did not know how fast the plane was traveling when it hit the building or the condition of the pilot, who was the only person on board.
Images from local television showed the jet's nose inside a building on the base while the body of the aircraft appeared to be intact. The aircraft was attached to a naval station in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Wellan said.

I remember when I was younger and there were rumors about this secret spy plane that was invisable to radar (AKA - Stealth Bomber)... I knew what it looked like... I had not only seen it fly over my house but saw it on the back of a flatbed one day when they were transporting it. When we were getting ready to go to war with Iraq my mother was a little nervous about me living in site line to one of our major carrier bases until I pointed out that she lived in siteline to a major Norad radar site (we had always just referred to them as the Jolly Green Giants golf balls) and a first strike target. It took me three days the first time I went back there to figure out where the music was coming from every afternoon. Turns out that every afternoon at the same time they broadcast Star Spangled Banner over the warning speakers which can be heard from the house. I thought they just had loud neighbors... turns out they do, just not the troublesome type.
