Okay the evacuation process has begun for the lower parishes and New Orleans... and gulf coast Ms. areas..
Dennis has made a slight wobble west and we are all holding our breath to see what path it takes. A direct hit with a cat 4 or 5 over S.E Mississippi will mean a world of hurt for us..
Even if it lands in Pensacola or the Gulf Shores.. we are still within the funnel.. so bags are packed and we are heading North in the early hours of the morning.. hopefully the evacuation routes won't be as bogged down as the last time..
Wishing the best of luck to everyone in Dennis's path.. Stay safe...hugs Maggie

Fingers are crossed for you and all those who might be in it's path. Take care....be safe.

I have relatives in Pascagoula, Ms. They sometimes stay rather than deal with possible tornados inland.
Good luck, Maggie!

Helen, your relatives in Pascagoula should take a lesson from Hurricane Camille in 1969 in neighboring Biloxi and Gulfport. That was a 25 foot storm surge drowning many who thought they would wait out the hurricane in their apartments and homes. I saw large boats washed inland for blocks.

I just read in the EO that they are starting to evacuate.
Even thou we disagree Maggie, get out of there and stay safe. I haven't been watching the news so I don't know the severity of it but with the others keeping us posted it sounds dangerous. Even if you think it is not I think it is time for you to leave. Safe journey Maggie.

Well, it's 10:19 and I've just now finished all the chores I had to do! Good Lord, most or the preparations were for the damn dogs!
I cooked a roast, two bags of chicken breasts, and two packages of liver...all for the dogs..
then had to cut and baggie them and freeze them.. then washed their beds and blankets, bathed all three dogs and then had to start on our things..
Things are looking less grim for our area right now.. but we are not out of the woods yet,, it's anyone's guess where Dennis will land. But I'm not taking any chances..
Thank you all for your kind words!
Etexbill, good to hear from you again! I thought you had departed for Mexico..never to be heard from again.
Ron, LOL.. we resent having a bath other than our regular Sat. night one..but this way we can do the laundry at the same time!
Take care everybody..revving up my broom, Krafty! Hugs Maggie

OMG... someone just brought this article in a Gulf Coast newspaper to my attention..
"We urge all of our citizens to make preparations for Hurricane Dennis," MEMA Director Robert Latham said. "I think it's important to understand that some of the forecasts show the track of this storm going up through Meridian and Columbus and they can see hurricane force winds that far inland from this storm. It is that strong a storm."
Well, isn't that just like me to choose a motel right in the path of the hurricane..I might be better off staying home!
