Hey all.
The last few nights I've seen an infomercial for a product that looks REALLY cool and was wondering if anyone here had one (want to know if it does what it says it does).
The product is called: Creative Nail Design (I think). You get this gizmo that you put your finger in, put some polish on the gizmo then slide the top part over your nail and push. WALA! You have a desin on your nail (like they do at the nail salons).
Anyway, the thing is $40.00, and Im thinking of buying one because my nails are in really good shape and I love those designs.
So: Any imput??

I doubt I'm really qualified, but -- something tells me this won't work as well as it looks on TV. Just an instinct.

It works Great!.
Every day I use a different design. Sometimes stars, sometimes new moons, sometimes the cutest little flowers! They even have ones that make little bears, and kitties and things. By using all different colors you can have an infinite variety, and you can have a different design on each nail of both hands and both feet.
I think that it's the finest thing since Debbie did Dallas!

KRS: You know, I thought of you when I saw this product!
James: Yeah, that is what Im thinking as well. I've had my nails done for years (both fake and real) so I know what it takes to make those designs look good.
I'm going to call in the morning to find out if they have a money back policy....if so I will probably try it out.
(KRS: When I get one we can chat EVERYday about our nails! Won't THAT be fun! )

Lotsafuzz -- what I did (long before this gizmo was out there) was buy an airbrusher and scavenge some old x-ray film for making stencils.
Then you find a friend and learn to do each others nails. This worked better when I was living in 3 miles rather than 400 miles from my best friend.
But! I do find that just allowing myself the treat of getting my nails designed weekly for $10 at a local salon is a great buy. (Its more expensive if you have fakes -- but I don't so I get away for less!)

xifene: My old best friend and I used to do a similar thing....we didn't use the airbrush, but did cut out designes (we used cigarette paper). Course, since she and I don't speak anymore.... My current best friend falls into the same catagory as Toomanycomics: "Nails? What Nails?". She plays piano and has NEVER had long nails.
Thought I had convinced the boyfriend to help me out. He has a really steady hand and is good at drawing, but to be honest.....it isn't near as fun as having your best buddy do it (hardly ANY giggling! LOL). Not to mention all the "girly" comments he made. (Sheesh, he makes fun but who is the first person he calls to scratch his back or open the plastic wraping on something?)
HCQ: Wala and Voila are in the same family. I use Wala for fun things.

Since we're talking about informercials, how about that new Igia hot wax foot thing? I don't know the name, but you stick your foot (or whatever) into this melted wax, and it's supposed to end all of your problems just like that. Voila, or wala.

Muriel: I've seen that one! (Yes, I know I stay up WAY to late at night.) Looked kind of cool...er...well, hot!
I bet it would feel great, but it was kind of pricey as I remember. Also, I could just *see* spilling that entire thing of hot wax all over the floor! LOL
PS: I ordered the finger thing yesterday...takes 2-6 weeks for shipping (YIKES!). Will let ya'll know if it works or not.

Lotsafuzz -- you'll hafta tell us how the finger doohickey works. I've never seen the commercial (I'm one of those heathens who can't stand the telly) -- but it does sound like it could be fun if it really and truly works. (The permanently-remove-your-hair-tweezers didn't. Ahem. Don't ask.)
On the other hand -- wax has great potential. I've used warm wax on my hands to good effect for ages now -- eases the deQ's don't you know.
And that doesn't even count its other uses.

Will do! Course I have to wait *forever* to get the silly thing.
I did notice that it comes with an instructional video....thinking THAT can't be good. Im one of those who usually has to go fish the directions out of the trash! LOL

You're supposed to watch the video while you do your nails, because you ruin the patterns when you fish the instructions out of the trash. At least......I did.

Muriel:
If that hot wax thingy is anything like I had to use during therapy on my hand a few years ago IT'S WONDERFUL!!!
The wax is not the hard type like candle wax - - it's like a warm firm putty. When it cools it gets just a little firmer and you simply peel it off and re-use it. My occupational therapist used to put a small amount of Ben-Gay or Icy Hot in it and it was the most wonderful feeling.
After she made my hand (and me) feel sooooo good she practically killed me with pain during the actual therapy. You might want to skip that last part. Ha!

Hey all.
Well, got my finger nail thing-a-ma-bob.
Good things:
1) Said shipping would be 4-6 weeks. Got mine in just under two weeks.
2) All the stuff is in there, and the main thing-a-ma-bob is very sturdy. The instructional video (although short) was very good and easy to understand.
3) The fingernail paints are of good quailty.
4) The thing DOES work!!!
Bad things:
1) This thing would really work best for people with fake nails because the designs are a bit big for regular nails. My mom cant use it because her nail beds are to small.
2) You have to clean the thing (with polish remover) between every nail.
3) Takes some practice and I dont see how you can do the non-dominate hand without help.
Over all, I would recommend this product. It is not as easy to use as the commercial suggests (go figure), but it does work. Just takes some practice.
Now, who ordered the hot wax thingie?
