So which international groups are going to send aid to the survivors of Louisiana? Which international coalitions will be assisting those who lost everything?

When these things happen overseas, I always see the USA there helping out. Let's see what happens this time around.

You are not the first to ask that question ... it will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks. If nothing else I would think there is some newly aquired expertise that could be given.

Its going to take a HUGE toll on the feds money. Calling it the worst storm since they recorded storms.

Course our local news has a link on where to donate that will go to the worst hit on the Gulf coast

btw, anyone here from Maggie????

Helen, if your reading, did you have any relatives in MS?

I surely hope everyone is OK

"Helen, if your reading, did you have any relatives in MS?"

Nearthesea, I have relatives all over the state. My sister and several others in the Jackson area are without electricity but OK otherwise. When I last talked to my cousin whose home is in Pascagoula she did not know the status of her property there. I read that Trent Lott's home in Pascagoula was completely destroyed.

Thanks for asking.

on topic....

Usually a request for such aid comes from the leader of the country in need of help. When our leader sits out the nation's largest disaster playing the guitar and staying the course "on vacation", what message does that send?

Before you start slamming other countries on their foreign aid policies remember...many give MORE than the U.S. does.

Remember when they ridiculed Michael Moore because he wrote a letter to Saudi Arabia asking for financial aid for America? Wasn't too far off the mark, was he

I want to see the victims get as much money as Iraq got , and as fast and AS EASY!

In Iraq they were handing it out in paper bags...let's see them do it for AMERICANS!

Without Halliburton getting a huge cut (just to be different).

AND since the neocons in here insist everything is so rosy in Iraq...let's see that new government over there send US some money!
OR MAYBE they could stop the building of the multi-billion dollar AMERICAM embassy in Iraq and send the money BACK to those who need it...the AMERICAN taxpayers!

Near - Mags is still in NC, her husband is in Texas. They don't seem to be holding out much hope on the home - If you check tht "Good News from Iraq" thread, she posted there last night.

BTW - Germany has offered help if needed.

I doubt we'll get anymore 'aid' from other countries than we did following 9-11.

Thanks fenix, I'm glad. Helen hope all your relatives are ok.

And thats great that Germany is going to help.

If I remember right, didn't the U.S. help out a lot on the Tsumani victims last December?

I honestly don't think the U.S can depend on much foriegn aid.

We can all donate what we can, but the gov't is going to pay alot. The insurance companies I'm sure can skirt around a lot of the disaster.

Its really hard to watch all this

Anybody with a midgeon of sense knows that President Bush has faced more problems than any president ever has. We live daily with crisis after crisis .This is a BIG one and

He is doing everything he can ... several news briefs from the Pentagon have been aired today.
Some have watched tooooooo many Hollywood movies that depict every problem , every castrophe solved in 90 minutes.

There are people of French descent all over the world DUH! So what ? The French president can't take care of them all. The ones in America should be taken care of by OUR president...as soon as he can spare the time!!!!@!

AND it took TWO DAYS for OUR president to READ A SCRIPTED response!

NO president in recent times have had a vacation as you are picturing. They are on call 24/7-- well maybe one did but he is dead and was voting the greatest American of all times.

It is not even called vacation , it is a working vacation .... just who do you think could have "fixed" this by now? gracious this super human should come to the fore and get in action and fix it -- I do not think anyone would block his/ her way?

NO, I did not vote for George but by George he is the president and I will not sit back and b about him for the next 3 or 4 years

OK, if every "new" poster has to face accusations of who they "really" are then I say deur1 HAS to be LIBRA!

It says, "Anybody with a midgeon of sense knows that President Bush has faced more problems than any president ever has. We live daily with crisis after crisis .""

ExcUUUse me! A "crisis"? What happened in the south is a crisis...a daily crisis ???

No, it's a huge DISASTER !
Cities were wiped out!

NOT a daily crisis.
And as to bush "facing" anything...he hasn't .

Forget it, deur1, mingotree has already demonstrated her amazing Creskin like ability to uncover a poster's true identity.

By the way mingotree, you got a little quiet in the Iraq thread after your bombshell revelation that I was Lindak. Now I realize you had a smidge of trouble drumming up popular support for your theory but to cut and run like that?

I then noticed that some seem to know some mortal superhuman that can "fix her" and ALL other world problems.

I see. Because you seem to be in the habit of just leaving things alone, I can't imagine how it would seem that you cut and ran.

Really, mingotree, no shame in admitting you dropped your pants in that thread. And which post is it you are accusing me of of not addressing? Seems to me you made a post accusing someone of being someone else and I addressed it.

Sincerley,

NO,I do not anticipate anything from him.

I was just happy to see Germany has offered aid, and neighboring France had not and many many people in LA have French roots .. that was just a passing thought.

Have a wonderful day
