As if the evacuation and 100 mile traffic jams weren't enough. It's being reported on Fox News that on I-45 just South of Dallas a bus carrying over 40 elderly and infirmed caught fire. Probably fueled in part by sparks from overheated brakes and several of the passengers having oxygen tanks.
It is feared that at least 20 people were killed.

many evacuees wish they have stayed home !!
Soon it will start to rain and they will be sitting in a car with empty gas tank.

I think after a few hours of the traffic and going less than one mile - I'd have turned around and gone home. I don't think I could have taken it, especially with the car loaded up and 3 dogs and a husband. Nope, I think I would have lasted 2 hours, tops.

you dont have small kids?
if you are in a high risk area and you saw what happened to the folks in New Orleans, you wont mind doing 2 miles an hour .

I'd leave the husband and take the three dogs back with me.

Could someone please explain why they had to get permission from the Department of Homeland Security to move that bus? Don't they have more important things to worry about and more important duties than overseeing traffic accidents?

No small kids - just the dogs and the husband - same difference though. If I did have children, I would definitely go no matter what the traffic for their sake.
