This one I saw on The Weekly Standard, today.
---

How much federal money should be spent to rebuild the city of New Orleans?

None: 51%

$50 billion: 21%

$100 billion: 11%

Money is no object: 11%

$200 billion: 5%
----------

And this other one from from NewsMax

"A new poll of left-leaning Democrats shows Hillary Clinton badly trailing her 2008 presidential rivals, with Wesley Clark, Russ Feingold and John Edwards all getting more support."

"The poll of 10,000 readers to the most widely trafficked Democrat blog, the Daily Kos, one of helen's favorite sites shows Gen. Clark is the 2008 frontrunner, with 34 percent support."

"Sen. Russ Feingold comes in second with 19 percent Behind him" -

"John Kerry's former running mate John Edwards gets 10 percent."

"Bringing up the rear, Hillary Clinton gets a tiny 8 percent support. And the trend shows her popularity fading - she got 10 percent in June."

""This isn't a scientific poll of the Democratic Party rank and file," reminds Koz. "But it's a pretty darn accurate poll of the sentiments of the Daily Kos community. 10,000+ respondents is nothing to sneeze at.""

"Hillary may still be wildly popular with Democrats at large. But it's the Moveon.org types who flock to web sites like Kos who will have a huge say in the primary process. And that's bad news for Mrs. Clinton."

"As for John Kerry, they like him even less. He got just 3 percent in the Kos poll."

In my opinion.... The federal government should not spend any funds to reconstruct private industry or private property.

The federal government has and will offer low rate loans for private rebuilding as well as some income tax breaks both for personal and business filings that were effected by these federally declared disaster areas.

The state of Louisiana, the city of New Orleans and the Parish (County) can also offer tax incentives for personal property and private business reconstruction.

The state, city and parish will also be given no cost or low interest rate federal loans and grants as well.

The federal government is not obligated under the constitution to rebuild anything. Of course they will. Of course that means you and me and our tax dollars.

as for the other poll...

I personally like Clark for the Democratic ticket.

According to what President Bush said recently, the Federal government is legally obligated to fund 75% of all states infrastructure in events like these. And that alone will be quite a substancial amount on it's own.

I'm hopeful that most homes/business' had insurance to cover most of their damage. Realizing that's probably not as likely in NO....and the poorer areas that were damaged.

chimpchamp - Clark huh? Why him for the dem nomination? What qualities do you believe he has to make a strong leader of our Nation?

:::"According to what President Bush said recently, the Federal government is legally obligated to fund 75% of all states infrastructure in events like these.":::

I don't know what the financial percentage mix of Federal to State funds is legally obligated. Yes, the federal government will pay some part for the rebuilding of state infrastructure,i.e, interstates, highways, bridges, govt. buildings, etc.

There is no legal obligation of the Federal government to rebuild or repair private poperty or enterprise.

Why Clark?......
During the last democratic presidential primary, I liked what I heard from Clark. He muffed up when he became associated with far left winger Roger Moore. He may be muffing up now as he gave some credence to Cindy Sheehan's far left wing agenda recently.

Overall, I felt Clark was more centered than most of the other 2004 primary candidates at the time. I also like that Clark has military experience since we were/are in Iraq and Afghanistan. JMHO

I'm surprised at both polls - I would not expect 51% to say no fed funds for N.O. rebuild. If they're thinking local funds should be spent, I agree - but the problem is that N.O. is bankrupt now - can't even pay some of their employees from what I've read.

I am pleased to hear the other poll regarding Hillary - I wonder if that's due to her new more moderate stance?
