WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Conservative Christian televangelist Pat Robertson told citizens of a Pennsylvania town that they had rejected God by voting their school board out of office for supporting "intelligent design" and warned them on Thursday not to be surprised if disaster struck.
Robertson, a former Republican presidential candidate and founder of the influential conservative Christian Broadcasting Network and Christian Coalition, has a long record of similar apocalyptic warnings and provocative statements.
Last summer, he hit the headlines by calling for the assassination of leftist Venezuelan Present Hugo Chavez, one of President George W. Bush's most vocal international critics.
"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city," Robertson said on his daily television show broadcast from Virginia, "The 700 Club."
"And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there," he said.

The guy is a crook. Nothing more than a common thief.
He even goes as far as using those vague phrases like, "I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city," like fortune tellers do... Watch, He'll take credit for the Blizzard of 2006. It amazes me how many people put such faith into idgits like PR and GW.

And, that's what you call being a Christian? He might not be there? That's not what it says in the Bible. Personally, I think the man's a bit senile and nothing he says should be taken seriously.

BECAUSE OF ROBERTSON'S WORDS. OTHER RELIGIOUS RIGHT WING CON-SERVATIVES LIKE BUSH,DeLAY,FRIST,SANTORUM AND OTHERS SHOULD MEET. IN THAT MEETING THEY NEED TO DECIDE IF DOVER PA. SHOULD GO ON PERMANENT RED ALERT STATUS. IF SO THEN ALERT CHENEY TO PUT HALIBERTON ON STANDBY.
GUYS LIKE ROBERTSON IS ANOTHER REASON THIS FORM OF RELIGIOUS RIGHT WING CON-SERVATIVE GOVERNMENT IS CRUMBLING.

"Why am I not shocked?"
Probably because there's no reason to be....if what he states on his own TV program bothers people....then don't watch it. It's meant for those who believe in God...and his followers.
Such small things sure upset some secularists and atheists. Then don't listen.

From today's AP
Thursday,
Robertson issued a statement saying he was simply trying to point out that "our spiritual actions have consequences."
"God is tolerant and loving, but we can't keep sticking our finger in his eye forever," Robertson said.
"If they have future problems in Dover, I recommend they call on Charles Darwin. Maybe he can help them."

And why the American Voters chose to RE-elect President Bush to four more years. YES!!!

Pat Robertson is just another religious fanatic preaching his line of garbage, just like another certain wannabe minister on this board.
Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.
---------------------------------- The duty of a patriot in this time and place is to ask questions, to demand answers, to understand where our nation is headed and why. If the answers you get do not suit you, or if they frighten you, or if they anger you, it is your duty as a patriot to dissent. Freedom does not begin with blind acceptance and with a flag. Freedom begins when you say 'No.'
