ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- A volcano on an uninhabited island erupted early Wednesday, spewing ash about five miles into the sky and prompting air traffic authorities to warn planes to steer clear of the cloud.

The ash from Augustine Volcano was not expected to reach Anchorage, the state's most populous city nearly 200 miles to the northeast, meteorologists said.

Full story heard on CNN new station where this was taken from their web site. Talk about if it erupts and slides into ocean could cause Tsunami stated on CNN news tonight but not so much in story on Cnn web site. Could affect the coastal areas of Alaska like Homer depending on which side of volcano slides if it does? Predict it could slide as soon as a day? Anyone else hear about this?

Can't touch this! uh huh, uh huh.

Yep, its blowing like the dems at the Alito hearings.

Near, can you imagine the damage if Ranier decided to blow?

Colin, I was kidding

But we do have St Helens and Rainier.

Yeah Ron, I can't even imagine Rainier going off! I often wonder if it would reach down this way near the Sound? There are so many different opinions on it, I don't know.

Yes it is scary
