Most say they're better off than 4 years ago

New poll finds Americans of all types sense progress

Ahead of mid-term elections this fall, most Americans believe they are better off today than they were four years ago, according to a new poll.

A Rasmussen Reports national opinion survey of 5,000 adults found 55 percent agree they're doing better while 36 percent believe they are not.

The sense of progress is felt across demographic lines, Rasmussen said.

The poll comes as good news for Republicans who with declining support for President Bush and division in the party over key issues such as immigration fear they could lose their majorities in the House and Senate.

Among men, the Rasmussen poll found 56 percent say they are better off while 54 percent of woman believe the same. The view is shared by 55 percent of white Americans, 52 percent of black Americans and 58 percent of all other Americans.

Rasmussen found, however, retired Americans are less likely than working-age Americans to say they are better off.

The pollster found partisan differences are less pronounced than on many issues.

Among Republicans, 72 percent say they are better off than four years ago, while 40 percent of Democrats say the same.

Fifty-one percent of those who are not affiliated with the two leading parties say they are better off.

Rasmussen noted the sense of progress comes at a time when only one-third of Americans rate the U.S. economy as good or excellent.

Tough for the bigisheepa to admit when they are losing. With the whole country knowing which party screwed up the Katrina thing. Demomorons.

If you look at Mississipi where they were hit just as hard, the Repubs have that area nearly cleaned up. Get a clue sheepa.

Bear,
You problem is you have nothing left in defense of your failed form of CON-servative Government. A failed government led by one of the DUMBEST persons ever elected by repeating lies fed to him by his controllers.

Its DUMBO that said "BRING IT ON" remember? Well Bear our side is bringing it on and your side has NO DEFENSE you now have only insult and cartoons left.

I enjoy and find your efforts in DUMBO'S defense comical. Frankly that is the only reason I even bother with you or your posts.

You know...I've been thinkng about that bear.

The left CONTINUES to complain about the job he's doing...and as you said with things improving...it's sure hard to understand how so many can still be idiots and think things are going badly.

AND if you listened to the National Security Policy the dems took months and months to come up with LOL LOL LOL it pretty much recommends doing EXACTLY what this administration has been doing already.

They're trying to pull a fake one on the voters though...saying stuff like they're going to get 'strong' and really protect our country.

Then when we look at their actual voting records...they've voted AGAINST most every security policy THIS administration passed.

They REALLY have to believe American's are dumb enough to put them in office in Nov. I sure don't see THAT happening.
