i have one question on this one. If you are constitutionally protected against self incrimination, why can you be charged with not disclosing information that would incriminate yourself?

fenix, you know, I am not one to agree with you much....but when I read the article I thought to myself; since when is lying to investigators (who lie too)- a crime punishable by death?? But I guess that is homeland security in motion and the sure force of condemnation for terrorists against this country. I only read like the 1st two paragraphs.

Moussaoui 'confessed' so he would be executed and thus not only enter heaven, but also be hailed as a martyr throughout the Muslim world. It was a smart move on his part.

I don't disagree agit. I'm an ardent supporter of the death penalty and figure the only reason that someone would torpedo a case the way he Moussaoui did is if they want to die.
My issue is with the precedent that is set.

From cnn.com: In concluding unanimously today that the defendant lied to federal agents after his arrest in August 2001, that he did so contemplating that human life would be taken, and that at least one victim of the Sept. 11 attacks died as a direct result of his deception, the jurors said death should at least be considered as the appropriate punishment.
Fenix, either he lied, or confessed and told the truth - which is it? You can hardly do both at once.

He failed to disclose the plans for 9/11 and lied about his reason for being in the country to interogators at the time of his arrest.
He confessed his knowledge and intentional deceipt at trial.
And I have no problem with comprehesion. Maybe if you delve past the second paragraph once in a while you won't either.
