WASHINGTON - The House on Thursday joined the Senate in approving a free trade agreement with Oman.
IF BELOW IS TRUE AND OMAN CAN NOW RUN OUR SEA PORTS AND SECURITY AT OUR AIRPORTS THEN OUR LAWMAKERS NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.
ANY LAWMAKER, REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT WHO VOTED FOR THIS LAW SHOULD BE VOTED OUT OF POWER STARTING 11/07/06.
START TAKING AMERICA BACK ON NOVEMBER 7TH 2006
The 221-205 vote gives congressional approval to the trade treaty that would immediately end all duties on trade in industrial and consumer goods and give American farmers duty-free access to Oman's market for 87 percent of their products.
Democrats also voiced concerns about labor provisions in the deal, saying they were insufficient to prevent human trafficking and use of forced labor.
They also said the agreement posed a security risk because it gives Oman-based companies the right to operate U.S. ports, subjecting the United States to international arbitration if it tried to block a deal similar to the since-canceled plan by a Dubai company to take over management of several U.S. ports.
So now can Dubai or any other country set up a company in Oman and than take over our Sea Ports and Airports?
"Last year more than 11 million cargo containers entered the United State," said Rep. Michael Michaud D-Maine. "Do you want a company in Oman managing this flow of who-knows-what into our borders? Would you let any company that operates in Oman run our airport security? The Oman free trade agreement hands over the keys to any company that operates in Oman."

Well, as long as the U.S.A. runs up a huge debit with the rest of the world, then the rest of the world has to invest (i.e. buy) in the U.S.A. Foreigners have owned an increasing percentage of the U.S.A. for a while now - it's a long-term trend... but don't worry as most are content to buy a few U.S. politicians to gain tax loopholes, favourable status, etc.
