If spouse has jewelry which has appreciated mucho in value and most are acquired during the course of marriage,is that communal property?
Say,they are not gifts bestowed by hubby.

A friend of mine is going thru a divorce right now, wife has racked up 75k worth of credit card debt(not sure if hubby is napping or participate as well, probably both).
They have agreed to divide this 75K debt in half, each taking 37k.
If they divide debt in half, should they not divide asset in half as well?
Jewelry is mostly 24k gold acquired overseas while on vacation.

The jewelry was probably paid for with the credit cards. Of course it's community property.

When our daughter got divorced last year, her husband drew up a list of HIS things he wanted out of the house. Included on the list were his toothbrush and his contacts. Go figure. I'm thinking the divorce process must make people crazy.

I would say it was Communal Property, unless it was a gift. Sounds like it may be on the credit cards (sounds like alot of things are on the credit cards). If it is, then it should be divided like the bills, 50-50.
Divorces bring out the worst in people.....
Bet ya didn't know that in the state of PA, if you soon-to-be-ex doesn't want to sign the papers, you have to be considered "abandoned" for two years before you can file. Swear to God, had it happen...twice.
