Updated 11:40 AM ET December 26, 2006

By CHRISTOPHER TORCHIA

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - At least 44 Iraqis died Tuesday in bombings, officials said, including a coordinated strike that killed 25 in western Baghdad. Separately, the U.S. military announced the

deaths of seven American soldiers,

raising the death toll significantly in one of the bloodiest months for the military this year.

Believe it or not, he hasn;t recognized the problem yet. The war doesn't appear to affect him. He says that he is sleeping a lot better than people would assume.

"Can the president really believe, as he said on Wednesday, that “victory in Iraq is achievable,” when a bipartisan commission led by his own father’s secretary of state calls the situation there “grave and deteriorating?” Is he truly content to ignore public opinion and let “the long march of history,” as he calls it, pass judgment on him after he is gone? Does he lie awake at night, as President Lyndon B. Johnson did during the Vietnam War, fretting over his decisions?"

Oh, I believe bush sleeps very well....what does HE have to worry about ????

He is ammoral, devoid of any human feelings whatsoever.....he thinks the deaths and maimings are just a "comma" in history.

Any idiot who compares a scratch he got "clearing brush" with the wounded soldiers who lost their arms, legs, sight, and minds in Iraq is an inhuman monster....
I doubt he'd shed a tear if his daughters died.
He is a product of the people behind him who needed a wooden puppet to pull off their crimes. In that, they have been successful.....

Bushy and Cheney should BOTH go to JAIL for their crimes against humanity in Iraq and their crimes against the America people right here in America!!

Saddam was sentenced to be hanged for his crimes against humanity. Bushy/Cheney killed and are still killing far more innocent Iraqi people than Saddam ever did. Bushy and Cheney also need to be punished for their crimes.

Never again should the people of America mix religion with politics. What a hard lesson we have all learned watching our President believing he is God like.

Just be thankful we only have two more years before this clown is finally out of the White House. I just hope the next Democratic President that is sworn in 2009 will get us of this mess since Bush will not have a clue on how to do that even with all the help and commissions.

Yep....all those democrats that didn't have the courage of their convictions and voted NOT to withdraw our troops from Iraq...sure did support this President, didn't they?

lol

Maybe they should all go to jail ....since they've voted to go to war in the first place and THEN still support staying there.

tsk tsk tsk

We'll have to build more jails it looks like.

1st Muslim congressman thrills crowd in Dearborn

December 26, 2006
BY NIRAJ WARIKOO
FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER

Newly elected Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn. Speaking in Dearborn late Sunday night, the first Muslim elected to Congress told a cheering crowd of Muslims they should remain steadfast in their faith and push for justice.

"You can't back down. You can't chicken out. You can't be afraid. You got to have faith in Allah, and you've got to stand up and be a real Muslim," Detroit native Keith Ellison said to loud applause.

Many in the crowd replied "Allahu akbar" -- God is great.

Ellison, a Minnesota Democrat elected to the U.S. House in November, has been the center of a national debate in recent weeks over Islam and its role in politics. Ellison has said he would take his oath of office on the Quran, the Muslim holy book, igniting a storm of criticism from some commentators.

U.S. Rep. Virgil Goode, a Republican from Virginia, said in a letter to constituents this month that the election of Ellison and other Muslims poses a danger to the country.

But Ellison, speaking at the annual convention of the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Circle of North America, said that Muslims can help teach America about justice and equal protection.

"Muslims, you're up to bat right now," he said. "How do you know that you were not brought right here to this place to learn how to make this world better?"

The convention, which ended Monday, drew more than 3,000 Muslims from across the country for the event aimed at revival and reform.

Ellison, who converted to Islam during college, made his remarks at the Hyatt Regency, the site of the five-day convention.

Ellison said he'd use the Quran during his swearing-in ceremony next week.

"On Jan. 4, I will go swear an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. I'll place my hand on the Quran," Ellison said while placing his hand on the lectern, to loud applause.

"This controversy has ... made people dust off their Constitution and actually read it ."

I agree bear.

It's just too bad that the 'voices' that speak to them are never FACTUAL.

Maybe that's a requirement to be a liberal - the ability to make things up, I don't know.

Its like this, Bubba is on the couch eating, drinking and watching the games while his wife is on the computer buying my wife's jewelry. Ha Ha

So don't go to sleep get on the computer and follow our Presidents advice. Bushy says don't worry about a thing just buy and buy and buy some more. Ha Ha.

hillary Hires Evangelical Consultant

Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 12:11 a.m. EST

Hillary Hires Evangelical Consultant
Hillary Clinton has hired an "evangelical consultant" to help woo Christian conservatives in her likely 2008 presidential campaign.

The move comes after a similar political operative successfully aided Democratic candidates in several states in the midterm elections.
More than one-quarter of the nation's voters identify themselves as evangelical — a voter bloc that has long been courted by Republicans.

Clinton's new hire is Burns Strider, an evangelical Christian who directs religious outreach for House Democrats and is the lead staffer for the Democrats' Faith Working Group, headed by incoming Majority Whip James Clyburn of South Carolina.

Incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi created the group last year when Democratic strategists observed that the party lost ground in the previous election in part because candidates failed to reach centrist and conservative voters in rural areas, who tend to be churchgoers concerned with moral issues, according to the Washington, D.C.-based publication The Hill.

I love a good game of football but one side of me says its like the Romans watching the Gladiators.

Mingotree is right I sure hope the Dems start undoing the harm Bushy and his gang have done to America.

OK, my reference to football came from the FACT that when I celebrated Christmas, and it has been a LONG time, no matter whose home you went to during the holidays , the only thing you could hear was the %^$&#^&%$^%^#@#(! football game on TV.

The men sat stupified watching TV and eating.

The women did ALL the work.

It stunk!

I quit!

It may have changed but I'm not taking any chances....and I know it's STILL the women who do the work. (ya, ya, I know there's exceptions but that's just it, they're exceptions!)

mingotree,

You are right about the gals doing most of the work on (feetball) days.

In our house it went like this, my good wife made 75% of Christmas dinner I made 25%. Patty did 100% of our decoration but its simple decoration we don't go all out on decorations plus she did 100% of the buying of gifts she likes shopping.

But the next day I was so bored that I made Turkey soup. Normally I cook over 50% of our meals maybe that is why Patty is thin. LOL

I don't know, Bigpeepa...he certainly has committed atrocious crimes but prosecuting him may take lots of time and money ....and we need that for straightening out the godawful mess his gang of thugs has made of our country and Iraq.

He certainly deserves punishment for what he has done.....

mingotree,

I agree with you and don't think Bushy should be brought up on charges while he is in office. You are right the law makers have enough to do trying to right the wrongs he and his gang have done.

I am thinking after Bushy leaves office would be a good time to hold him responsible for his crimes.

Well enough about Bushy, only time will tell it always does. I did hear several states have started procedures to impeach Bushy.

Did I ever tell you that way back when I got a letter from the N.Y Giants inviting me for a tryout? I was very young and remember feeling kind of proud until I found out the Giants wrote the same letter to all the seniors in Central N.Y that year. LOL

Mingo, I can't believe I'm alone in this one...the TeeVee is not turned on in this house for Thanksgiving OR Christmas. There is a small little set in my barn office for those diehards who have to watch their foolish games, but I won't have it in the house proper. Like I said, profe, exceptions are just that.
Women STILL do most of the work, have most of the stress. And I bet anything that if women just quit Christmas there would be none. Most men would be happy watching football even if they had to actually feed themselves.!!!!!!

My sister hasn't had a Christmas tree since telling her husband and son they could have one anytime they wanted...as long as THEY put it up, unpacked the decorations, vacuumed up the needles, took it down, packed away the ornaments, and got rid of the tree........and they don't even watch football!!!

I can understand those who really LIKE Christmas but I hear so many people complain about the work, hassle, stress and how glad they are when it's over...SO why do they do it!!!!
