We don't get to read enough about your GREAT accomplishments....because the anti-war, liberal MSM refuses to put accomplishments like this one on their FRONT PAGE.

But I'm thankful we do have NEW MEDIA sites where we CAN read about all the GREAT things you are/have done.

Keep up the GREAT work.

U.S. Forces Save 41 Iraqis From al-Qaida

May 27, 10:01 AM (ET)
By ROBERT BURNS

WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. forces rescued 41 Iraqi civilians Sunday from an al-Qaida hide-out northeast of Baghdad, including some who showed signs of torture and broken bones, a senior U.S. official said.

Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, the top U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, said it was the largest number of detained Iraqis ever found in a single al-Qaida hide-out. Some among the 41 had been held as long as four months, he said.

Details were incomplete, but Caldwell said some of the freed Iraqis were being transported to medical facilities for treatment of their injuries. There were no indications that Americans had been held at the hide-out, he said. It was not immediately clear whether any al-Qaida figures were captured.

The discovery was unrelated to a search south of Baghdad for two missing U.S. soldiers.

U.S. forces previously have found a number of houses used by al-Qaida for detention, including some where prisoners showed signs of torture. But the hide-out raided Sunday in Diyala province was the largest, Caldwell said in a telephone interview. He declined to be more specific about the location, citing security reasons.

Caldwell said a tip to U.S. forces from Iraqis in Diyala led to the rescue operation.

"The people in Diyala are speaking up against al-Qaida," he said. Caldwell said U.S. troops have been engaging more directly with Iraqi civilians in Diyala in recent weeks since an additional 3,000 U.S. troops entered the province.

Do you mean ALL the troops or just the male ones?

Afterall, YOU called the female troops "he-men" who should be at home.

P.S. This article was on my front page.

Inconsolable

Remembering those who have fallen before, it's impossible not to think of all the soldiers now condemned to policing a civil war, with no end in sight.

There are no words.

No videos.

No pictures.

All that remains is the failure.

The war goes on and everyone talks politics. What people might say if we stopped the war and brought our troops home.

Bad press.

Busy propping up politicians to save face.

So Democrats ruminate on Vietnam slurs, while ducking their duty. The abject failure of leadership and wholesale sell out of America laid bare for all to see; the only hope made merely hapless through cowardice.

Republicans chained to their incompetence; collapsing in on their irrelevance.

The soldiers say nothing and fight on.

Meanwhile, troops continue to die, Iraqis too.

The carnage has become contagious. No one has the will to stop it. Waiting for tomorrow to come, but when it's here we look onward.

Politicians talk of beginning the end of the war, but it goes on and on and on.

And the president warns there is danger and even more death in the summer months to come.

Republicans talk of autumn.

See you in September.

The bodies continue to fall.

From the father of a soldier killed in Iraq.

To whom do Kennedy, Kerry and Lynch listen? We know the answer: to the same people who have the ear of George W. Bush and Karl Rove -- namely, wealthy individuals and institutions.

Money buys access and influence. Money greases the process that will yield us a new president in 2008. When it comes to Iraq, money ensures that the concerns of big business, big oil, bellicose evangelicals and Middle East allies gain a hearing. By comparison, the lives of U.S. soldiers figure as an afterthought.

Memorial Day orators will say that a G.I.'s life is priceless. Don't believe it. I know what value the U.S. government assigns to a soldier's life: I've been handed the check. It's roughly what the Yankees will pay Roger Clemens per inning once he starts pitching next month.

Cheney, when asked why he sought draft deferments during the Vietnam war said "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service."

This thread isn't ABOUT Cheney.

It's about what a GREAT job our troops are doing.

While I understand no liberal here could EVER just praise THEM for their accomplishments.....we see that once again they have to whine about something else.

tsk tsk tsk

==================

I read the article by the father who disagreed with this war but whose son fought in it.

At least HE respects his sons decision to serve our Nation.....so unlike cindy sheehan who just couldn't admit her son felt differently than she did about his nation and HIS choices.

And so unlike our liberals here.....at least this grieving father understands that MOST of our elected reps. ARE united in continuing this war.

"To be fair, responsibility for the war's continuation now rests no less with the Democrats who control Congress than with the president and his party. After my son's death, my state's senators, Edward M. Kennedy and John F. Kerry, telephoned to express their condolences. Stephen F. Lynch, our congressman, attended my son's wake. Kerry was present for the funeral Mass. My family and I greatly appreciated such gestures. But when I suggested to each of them the necessity of ending the war, I got the brushoff. More accurately, after ever so briefly pretending to listen, each treated me to a convoluted explanation that said in essence: Don't blame me."

May he rest in peace and may his father find peace in his heart while mourning the loss of his BRAVE and patriotic son.

Thank God we have men and women like this....or those just like the ones these troops freed would continue being TRULY tortured...would still be at the mercy of the terrorists. And we all know what they do to torture those they take as hostages.

I haven't change my mind on women in the military.

I'm just SICK and TIRED of answering the same GARBAGE when you and kiara choose to post it for the millionth time. Nothing more.

You two can make up whatever you need to....I refuse to respond to your LIES day in day out. There are just too many of them.

==============

Secondly NO. President Bush did serve and earned an honorable discharge.

Cheney, like MILLIONS of young men during the VN conflict took deferments.

AS DID CLINTON....but I sure don't see YOU bringing it up a million times.
He actually BROKE his word on joining the ROTC. Doesn't THAT lack of character matter to you? Hell no. He could have murdered someone, and some think he did have others murdered, and YOU'D still be slamming the one that DID serve.

That's how twisted your mind is.

NO....that's SO different. One deserts and one serves...and you spew your VOMIT about the one that actually DID SERVE.

No surprise. Anything anti-America is what YOU fully support. Those who love, honor and appreciate our Nation...you RAIL against....each and every day of your pathetic life.

Well, it sounds like it. You DID say they were "he-men" who should go home. You never denied it until recently so I can only assume that the post is no longer in the Vendio archives.

Yes, and the easy life with no combat duty was courtesy of Daddyshit.

I believe that is the only time I've ever put that quote by Cheney here.

No one said you had to answer, Linda_K. It wasn't directed at you. It was put there this morning and I went about my day just fine enjoying the outdoors so don't blame me that you are unable to control yourself, choosing to answer and then whining that you are becoming ill and fatigued from doing so.
