We Are All in It Together, Clinton Says
Tuesday May 29, 4:41 pm ET
By Holly Ramer, Associated Press Writer Clinton: Shared Prosperity Should Replace 'On Your Own' Society
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) -- Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a broad economic vision Tuesday, saying it's time to replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.
The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an ownership society really is an "on your own" society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.
"I prefer a 'we're all in it together' society," she said. "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."
That means pairing growth with fairness, she said, to ensure that the middle-class succeeds in the global economy, not just corporate CEOs.
"There is no greater force for economic growth than free markets. But markets work best with rules that promote our values, protect our workers and give all people a chance to succeed," she said. "Fairness doesn't just happen. It requires the right government policies."
Clinton spoke at the Manchester School of Technology, which trains high school students for careers in the construction, automotive, graphic arts and other industries. The school highlighted one of the nine goals she outlined: increasing support for alternative schools and community colleges.
"We have sent a message to our young people that if you don't go to college ... that you're thought less of in America. We have to stop this," she said.
Beyond education, Clinton said she would reduce special breaks for corporations, eliminate tax incentives for companies that ship jobs overseas and open up CEO pay to greater public scrutiny.
Clinton also said she would help people save more money by expanding and simplifying the earned income tax credit; create new jobs by pursuing energy independence; and ensure that every American has affordable health insurance.
Beyond education, Clinton said she would reduce special breaks for corporations, eliminate tax incentives for companies that ship jobs overseas and open up CEO pay to greater public scrutiny.
In 1965, the average corporate chief executive earned 24 times as much as the average worker, she said. By 2005, it was 262 times as much. In the last six years, productivity has increased, but family incomes have gone down, she said, leading to rising inequality and pessimism in the work force.
"It's not as if America hasn't been successful these last six years, but the measure of success does not relate to what's happening in households across our country," she said. "It's like trickle down economics, without the trickle."

Just like her 'it takes a village'. We don't need nor WANT the gov stepping more and more into our lives to take responsibility FROM us every chance they get. Nor do we need them to make it 'more fair'. That's NOT the role of government....least not the American gov.
What's that communist saying...."From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs" is going to become the de facto motto of the Democratic Party. [Neal Boortz - 2002]
And IF hillary ever gets her way we can KISS our good economy goodbye. The breaks corporations are given are what stimulate our economy. Always has....always will. Even JFK KNEW that. But then, he wasn't a communist....he fought against them.

YOUR government , in the last 6 years, has taken away so many of YOUR rights, can invade your privacy, control what you see, what you hear, control what you say, what you buy and how much you pay for it. They HAVE stepped into your life. You just didn't notice with all your screaming of slogans and talking points !
See, you are babbling "The breaks corporations are given are what stimulate our economy. """
When that has been proven to be nothing but a hoax...you FOOL! IT hasn't worked!
YES, the role of government SHOULD BE to make life more fair.
When a country consists of a very small percentage of its population having the majority of its wealth and the rest of the population in poverty...it's called a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.
Maybe that's what you want(now anyway, until you find out YOU will NOT be at the top) but it's not what true America loving PATRIOTS want!

I guess this is the one thing that really gets me.If the gas industry wasn't a monopoly I wouldn't really care.I went round and round with this months ago with Linda. I don't have a choice with the gas, either I pay or walk, and thats not feasible where I live. When I have to pay thru the ass for gas,and then this jerk gets a 400 million retirement-thats tends to piss me off.For a simply analogy-Every morning after I work out at the gym,I stop at Starbucks for a large coffee.Okay its $2.00 for a large cup.I could up the street to Dunkin Donuts and get a large one a lot cheaper.I just happen to like Starbucks more. However if Starbucks raised the price to 3 or 4 dollars a cup,I might go to Dunkin to get the cheaper coffee. My point in this is, AT LEAST I HAVE A CHOICE.With gas YOU DO NOT.

I think we're spoiled by the LOW gas prices we've been paying for generations now, especially when compared to Europe, canada, etc. nations.
And since the thread is about hillary....she could care less how much we're paying for gas.
All she wants to do, as she herself has called for doing, is STEAL profits from companies that have earned it...and re-distribute it. BIG BROTHER at it's best.
Soon she and other communists will be calling for the gov. to TAKE OVER OWNERSHIP of our businesses so the GOV. can do it their way. Sounds like Venezuela to me.

I know you whack packers get warm and fuzzy as Edwards, Hillary, et al, get all warm and fuzzy as they relate "feeling the pain" of the poor. That's all BS too.
The problem stems from thinking "Democrat" and "Republican" mean something like fire or ice. It just means "politician" and there is no difference, as you can see with the current Democratic "platform", which is missing enough planks to leave a single 2 X 4 standing edgewise.

And their sheep....follow right behind them saying it's okay if they RAISE our taxes.....it's okay if they KEEP finding more and more programs to spend OUR money on. Income redistribution is just FINE with them.
But don't ever expect those same 'big brother, big spenders' to give it themselves. That isn't ever going to happen.
I've often felt those who support this constant spending are those with their own hands out....give me, give me, because I'm special and YOU owe me.

"We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society."
Hillary Clinton (1993)
A comment from a fellow Houstonian.
Hillary does not believe in an ownership society, that is as she says "an on your own" society. An ownership society is one where your property is yours, your wealth is yours, your children are yours and your mind is yours.
She believes in a "we’re in it together" society or "collectivist" society where your home is not yours it is ours, your wealth is not yours it’s ours, your children are not yours they are ours and your thoughts are not yours they are ours with government as life’s arbiter/nanny.
In Hillary’s world if your family has more than Hillary thinks you need such as a big house, (that you worked for) two cars, (that you worked for) more than one television (that you worked for) have food, money or any of the other necessities of life, if Hillary sees it as unfair she will dispatch a truck load of soldiers to stick a gun in your face and take your property by force if necessary to re-distribute "fairly."
Look at Cuba, watch the runt in Venezuela, that’s her ideology and that’s your future under President Hillary Clinton. Oh by the way, her standards don't apply to her.
Is that the future you want for your children?

It Takes a Socialist Village
By Cal Thomas
Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has unveiled her economic vision. Should she be given the power to implement it, we can say goodbye to the prosperity and opportunity we have enjoyed since the Reagan years.
In a speech at Manchester School of Technology in New Hampshire, Clinton said it's time to replace President Bush's "ownership society," which she called an "on your own" society, with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.
Clinton said she prefers a "we're all in it together" society: "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."
Doesn't such a society already exist elsewhere? It's called socialism, where government has sought to make all things economically equal and the only equality is that all are equally poor. Wasn't defeating such a society precisely why we fought and won the Cold War? Why does Senator Clinton wish to embrace the principles of the losing side ?
Clinton has merely updated the old and discredited (except among socialist dictators) Karl Marx saying: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need."
Clinton's remarks came before students at a school whose purpose is to train high school kids for careers in the construction, automotive, graphic arts and other industries. She told them, "We have sent a message to our young people that if you don't go to college . . . that you're thought less of in America. We have to stop this."
Her assertion is bunk, but it is the typical class warfare bunk that comes from rich white liberals who want to take money from one group of people and give to others who didn't earn it in hopes they will become loyal Democratic voters.
This is not the philosophy that made America what it is. This is not a land of equal outcome, but of equal opportunity commensurate with one's talents, interests and drive.
In his "The Wealth of Nations," Adam Smith wrote: "It is the highest impertinence and presumption, therefore, in kings and ministers, to pretend to watch over the economy of private people, and to restrain their expense. . . . (Kings and ministers) are themselves always, and without any exception, the greatest spendthrifts in the society. Let them look well after their own expense, and they may safely trust private people with theirs. If their own extravagance does not ruin the state, that of their subjects never will."
I am not robbed by people who have more money than me. I am robbed by a government that wants to penalize my industry and give increasing portions of what I earn to people who do not emulate my principles, morals and ethics.
What have we come to? We once taught our young people the virtues of hard work, saving, personal responsibility and accountability for one's actions, chastity before and fidelity and commitment in marriage, honesty, integrity and virtue - not to mention the Ten Commandments (especially the one about not coveting that which belongs to your neighbor).
We now teach them entitlement, victimhood, class envy and rights to other people's money. When one robs a bank, it's a crime. When government takes our money, it's called a tax. Same result.
There is something else about Clinton's speech that offends. She suggested that students at a technical high school are inferior to those of higher social rank. This, too, is typical white liberal bunk. Has it occurred to her that many students prefer technical careers - and some make an excellent living at them - to the jobs held by the elites and that some of those jobs (like politician) fit them for nothing of value and turn them into professional snobs?
Senator Clinton should consider the wisdom of a former president, who said, "The collection of any taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to the public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny.... The wise and correct course to follow in taxation is not to destroy those who have already secured success, but to create conditions under which everyone will have a better chance to be successful." (Calvin Coolidge inaugural address, March 4, 1925)
"While the democratic party complains about everything THIS President does to protect our Nation": "What would a Democrat president have done at that point?"
"Apparently, the answer is: Sit back and wait for the next terrorist attack."

There are millions who are 'on' to hillary's political platform. I agree with this editorial also.
American's have been 'dumbed down' and can't even recognize how the radical left has been moving America into socialism.....and communism....a little at a time.
And if anyone actually reads the CPUSA's website...you'll see that is EXACTLY what their plan/agenda has been all along. SLOWLY feed Americans their ideals....and hope they are stupid enough to not see it coming. They're patient....and the progressive left fully supports their agenda.
Hillary is only ONE.

Insanity: Socialists, communists serving in Congress

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.
"For the traitor appears not a traitor – he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear."
– Marcus Tullius Cicero 42 B.C.
Bernie Sanders is an open socialist. This "independent" representative for the state of Vermont who serves in the U.S. House of Representatives is also is a member of the "Progressive Caucus" along with dozens of members of Congress. This is just another communist front-group passing itself off as a "choice for the people." What rubbish.
There's no question Hillary Clinton is a Marxist if you understand the subject matter. In the past, both Bill and Hillary have been generous donors to the Institute for Policy Studies, a subversive organization vigorously investigated by the FBI.
The government's indoctrination centers – called public schools – have done a magnificent job of dumbing down America's children for the past 40 years. So few adults today have any concept or understanding of a constitutional republic – most believe our legal form of government is a democracy. The "great programmer" – also known as television – has done more to shape the minds of Americans than any classroom. Sadly, the result is a nation of people who, for the most part, can't recognize socialism or communism because it has been slowly spoon fed to them all their lives.
I have written before about the 45 communist goals entered into the Congressional Record. If you read the ones listed in my previous column, you will see that these communist goals are ardently embraced by both Sanders and Clinton. However, that was just the short list. Here are a few more from the Congressional Record, Vol. 109, 88th Congress, 1st Session, Appendix Pages A1-A2842, Jan. 9-May 7, 1963:
Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength. Now U.S. policy.
Permit free trade between all nations regardless of communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war. Now U.S. policy.
Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites. Now U.S. policy.
Provide American aid to all nations regardless of communist domination. Now U.S. policy.
Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the United Nations: Done. China is one of five veto-wielding permanent members of the U.N. Security Council.
Promote the United Nations as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the United Nations as by Moscow.) Done.
Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party. Done.
Do away with all loyalty oaths. Done.
Capture one, or both, of the political parties in the United States. Done.
Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions. Done.
Gain control of key positions in radio, television and motion pictures. Done.
Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. Done.
Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man." Done.
Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities. Abolished 1975.
Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders that no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat]. Done.
Internationalize the Panama Canal. Done, Dec. 31, 1999.
Block the United States from preventing the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike. In progress.
How did all these communist goals get accomplished? By legislation signed into law passed by past Congresses, state legislatures and governors over the past 40 years.
It is insane to allow anyone to serve in Congress or any elected office in these United States of America whose very actions are undermining this sovereign republic. Americans have got to get out of a state of denial about their elected public servants.
Join Operation Clean Sweep so we can really take back America. Time grows short for freedom.

Romney: Clinton couldn't even get elected in France
By Nafeesa Syeed, Associated Press Writer | May 31, 2007
SIOUX CITY, Iowa --Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Thursday criticized Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton as a European caricature who would turn the United States into a welfare state.
Speaking to about 200 people in Sioux City, Romney said he wanted to highlight the differences between himself and Clinton, the front-runner for her party's presidential nomination.
"Her view is the old, classic, European caricature that we describe of big government, big taxation, welfare state ," said the former Massachusetts governor.
"She gave a speech a couple of days ago and laid out her vision for America. And as I listened to her I figured her platform wouldn't even get her elected in France," Romney, who was a missionary in France, said to chuckles and applause.
In recent French elections, conservative Nicolas Sarkozy captured the presidency, defeating Segolene Royal in her bid to become France's first female president.
Romney criticized Clinton's effort as first lady to enact universal health care and touted his success in passing a plan in Massachusetts. Although Romney won bipartisan praise for his state effort, he hasn't mentioned it much in his bid for president.
"The first difference is mine got passed and hers didn't," he said.
Romney said the election of Clinton as president would force the country to veer off course economically, militarily and socially.
"I'm convinced if Hillary were president ... that we would see instead of a stronger military and a stronger economy and stronger families, we'd see a weaker military because she would ... be able to spend money on the social programs that she favors," he said. "We'd see a weaker economy because she'd raise taxes and we'd have less money going into the private sector and creating new jobs. We'd see weaker families as well."
A Clinton campaign spokesman declined to respond to Romney's comments.
Contrasting himself with Clinton, Romney also reiterated his support for a constitutional amendment against gay marriage. Clinton has said she wouldn't support such an amendment.

Although the more she speaks recently, she's allowing more voters to see her FULL support for socialism....and a touch of communistic ideals.
I'm sure you read where she said she would 'take away profits' from the oil companies...and put towards her pet projects.
Do YOU see that as being the American way, CC? I sure don't. It appears to be just about what Chavez is doing in Venezuela right now. First put control of the energy/ oil industry, then shut down the TV/news stations who don't worship HIS communist ideals. Some democracy, huh?
NOT But hillary's sure trying to lead America down that same path. tsk tsk tsk
