Fireworks broke out at a Friday morning session of the second day of the YearlyKos Convention titled “The Military and Progressives: Are They Really That Different?”. An as yet unidentified uniformed soldier attempted to address the panel on the subject of the “Surge”. He was unceremoniously escorted out by panelist Jon Soltz.
The soldier’s words were either suppressed or inaudible on the convention’s own video. They can be heard here on this exclusive PJM Video by Andrew Marcus, who also interviews the soldier and tries to interview Soltz.
Ezra Klein of the American Prospect, who witnessed the incident called it an "odd close" to the panel, reporting that at the end "a young man in uniform stood up to argue that the surge was working, and cutting down on Iraqi casualties."
"The moderator largely freaked out," Klein wrote. "When other members of the panel tried to answer his question, he demanded they 'stand down.'"
The moderator, Klein said, "demanded the questioner give his name, the name of his commander and the name of his unit. And then he closed the panel, no answer offered or allowed, and stalked off the stage."
Panelist Wesley Clark, the former NATO commander and 2004 Democratic presidential candidate, "took the mic and tried to explain what had just occurred," Klein said.
Klein said "the argument appears to be that you're not allowed to participate in politics while wearing a uniform, or at least that you shouldn't, and that the questioner was engaging in a sort of moral blackmail, not to mention a violation of the rules, by doing so."
He concluded: "Knowing fairly little about the army, I can't speak to any of that. But it was an uncomfortable few moments, and seemed fairly contrary to the spirit of the panel to roar down the member of the military who tried to speak with a contrary voice."
Democratic presidential candidates expected to attend the conference are former Sens. John Edwards and Mike Gravel; Sens. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Chris Dodd; and Rep. Dennis Kucinich. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid also are expected.

You know what's really pathetic? The liberal candidates are so afraid of the dailykos and them smearing them.....they've given that piece of #*!@ site recognition by attending their 'convention'.
They're the same group of pathetic human beings that almost celebrated when our four US contractors were hung on that bridge in Baghdad. The website owners statements were outrageous.

'Screw Them'
Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, who runs the Angry Left Daily Kos blog, had this to say in a post yesterday about the murders of four American contractors who were helping to deliver food in Fallujah, Iraq:
Every death should be on the front page
Let the people see what war is like. This isn't an Xbox game. There are real repercussions to Bush's folly.
That said, I feel nothing over the death of merceneries [sic]. They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them.
Zuniga has taken down the original post, but in a new post he acknowledges it and offers a partial retraction, which essentially amounts to saying he didn't actually "feel nothing"; in fact, he was angry at the victims. Blogger Michael Friedman has a screen shot of the original post.
It's worth noting that the Daily Kos is popular among Democratic leaders. Zuniga is a principal in the Armstrong Zuniga political consulting firm, which touts the Daily Kos as "the most popular political weblog with over 3 million monthly visits."
Friedman has a list of congressional candidates who advertise on the site, and in a February posting Zuniga reported that Terry McAuliffe, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, "asked if I would post" a "Message to Blog Community."
About Zuniga's comments, we have nothing to say. They speak for themselves.
---
And these liberals give them credibility. figures.
No surprise on the soldier. They've reported him because he spoke in uniform.
Yep...they're so AFRAID of our brave soldiers they couldn't block his speech in any other way so they TATTLED on him. Grown ups that they are. NOT
And the dailykos also invited a muslim to speak at their convention. No Christians/no Jews/ NO other religion was represented there. JUST a muslim
And the liberal candidates continue to give them credibility.
What low-lives they are. Pathetic human beings.

Also kind of reminds me how old progressive/socialist pelosi who SAYS she supports our troops said 'she didn't CARE what Gen. Petraes reports in Sept.'
What a joke they all are. That's how they SHOW their support for our troops alright. Censor them....and don't listen to their reports.
Gotta love those un-america liberals.

"While the democratic party complains about everything THIS President does to protect our Nation": "What would a Democrat president have done at that point?"
"Apparently, the answer is: Sit back and wait for the next terrorist attack."
Pay attention as Hillary adopts Kos-ese while praising the nutroots for “standing up to the right-wing Republican noise machine,” jokingly blames the “vast right-wing conspiracy” for a microphone glitch, and claims credit for helping establish Media Matters and the Center for American Progress.
Also this: “Don’t tell anybody, but I actually read blogs.”
She also takes a swipe at Bill O’Reilly–red meat for the blue crowd, of course. “I was very proud of my campaign standing up and calling O’Reilly out…I thought Howard [Wolfson] did a terrific job going into the lion’s den.”
More cheers than boos. But there were boos.
The Kossification of the Democrat Party is complete.
Read where the liberals state they want to 'aggressively spend'.
"Plunging headlong into the Internet era, all seven candidates fought for the support of the powerful and polarizing liberal blogosphere by promising universal health care, aggressive government spending and dramatic change from the Bush era."
Yea, how much MORE can they spend? How much can they turn America into a MORE socialist nation? That would be a dramatic change not just from the Bush era...but what America was founded upon.
And here I thought they RAN in '06 on how much the republican had spent - and the changes they were going to bring about.
IF they win....watch out. Because with all the spending they're PROMISING to do....they won't be able to reduce enough other spending to stick to their OTHER goal....pay as you go .

Armed forces members are not allowed to take political or religious positions while in uniform. The guy was breaking regulations, but they should have let him speak anyhow. If he wanted to flaunt a DOD directive, he should have been allowed to.

The Legacy of the "Daily Kos"
By John Hawkins
Published on 08/5/2007
Writer John Hawkins focuses on Markos Mouletsas Zuniga--also known as Kos--and his Daily Kos, and explores the writings of extremism, conspiracies, and anti-American sentiments on the blog.
From Our Writers:
Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, who operates the Daily Kos blog, has said: "I wouldn't want to be a senator or congressman. I'm able to influence politics much more effectively doing what I do. Now I can shape the national political debate. The only way I could exert more influence would be if I were president. But I'd never want that guy's job. Never."
Is Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, also known as Kos, really that powerful? No. But, does he have enormous sway on the left? You bet he does.
His blog, the Daily Kos, is an enormous website that is slavishly catered to by Democratic congressmen and senators. Among the prominent Democrats that have posted on his blog are Jimmy Carter, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi. Moreover, all three Democratic front runners for the presidency--Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards--are scheduled to attend the Yearly Kos convention.
So, why is the influence and power that the Daily Kos wields in the Democratic Party so significant? Because many of the writers at the Daily Kos are extremists who promote a virulent hatred of the military, conspiracy theories, and in some cases, even violence and fascist tactics against the people who disagree with them. That means when someone like Harry Reid writes a diary on the Daily Kos or when Hillary Clinton goes to the Yearly Kos convention, it indicates that they're comfortable associating with people who hold those sort of radical views.
Of course, you can expect Democrats to deny that the Daily Kos is a poison well of extremism, conspiracies, and anti-American sentiment. However, let's take a look at what some of the writers on that blog--note that I said the writers, not just people leaving comments--have had to say.
Most notoriously, the founder of the Daily Kos, Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, wrote this about American contractors who were murdered in Iraq and had their bodies desecrated,
"...I feel nothing over the death of merceneries. They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them."
When you see that sort of hostility towards people risking their lives in Iraq from the man running the Daily Kos, is it any surprise that other diarists on that blog have penned commentary like this,
"Our sons and daughters need to realize that choosing to be a soldier means a decision to place themselves among "the damned," since no matter what they end up doing while on the field of battle, they will eventually be damned.. damned if they do and damned if they do not. Realizing that compliance with a superior's order to shoot and kill the enemy may well lead to the damnation (the self-extirpation) of one's soul. On the other hand, noncompliance will lead to that of being court-martialed." -- Populist Party
"But do I still support the individual men and women who have given so much to serve their country? No. I think they’re a bunch of idiots. I also think they’re morally retarded. Because they sign a contract that says they will kill whoever you tell me to kill. And that is morally retarded." -- AWhitneyBrown
"We need to lose this war and not start the next one so that we can remain a free people. Diminished on the world stage? Perhaps, like Great Britain was diminished when it surrendered its colonial empire. But free." -- bluedogtxn
Only three examples have been listed above because the space available in this column is somewhat limited, but these sentiments are run-of-the-mill on the Daily Kos and similar comments are made on a regular basis by other writers on the website.
Along those same lines, here's the sort of bizarre paranoia that regular readers of the Daily Kos are exposed to on a regular basis,
"If we do not wake up now and flood Congress to impeach the President and Vice President, one year from now, Daily Kos may be banned and Markos himself may be disappeared, in a federal prison somewhere.
"Even as I write these words I feel like a wild-eyed nutcase. If it were not for the OH SO REAL danger this country faces in the next 15 months or so as the people in power see their own doom and are determined to prevent their expulsion from power by suspending next year's elections and declaring martial law WHEN the next 9/11 comes or events that can be construed as a national emergency to "justify" such actions, I would be holding my tongue and crossing my fingers."
-- slw0606
"...Bush let North Korea get nukes in order to start an arms race in Asia. He did it so American weapons manufacturers will make money, like we do with Israel.
"We need to start talking straight, people. We need to start being up front about what this is all about. We can't wait until Bush walks up and blows our brains out to call this what it is."
-- Kosmo
"Was Pat Tillman killed on Cheney's or Rumsfeld's orders?
"We must be ever vigilantly cynical regarding the bloodthirsty, money-hungry cutthroats in the White House because they never disappoint the rudest and crudest analysis of their active and ongoing conspiracies. The vilest imaginings of Stephen King is where these deceitful serpents dwell. Never make the mistake that you are being too cold in your analysis of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell, and Rice."
-- 3CCD
Now let's move from conspiracy theories to hateful extremism,
"Because filing briefs don't stop bullets, and when the ballot box fails us, we are not above seeing what's in the ammo box." -- pinche tejano
"And anyone -- Liebercrat or Republican -- who stands to oppose impeachment, conviction and removal should be tried for their role as accomplice in the sedition and treason against the United States." -- GreyHawk
"If the Democrats fail (to end the war), the only option left is revolution and foreign intervention. Tyranny is but assured because Congress cannot and will not exercise it's Constitutional power to end this fascist Coup d'etat." -- wolverine 06
Now as you read these quotes from the diarists--again, not the commentaries--at the Daily Kos, it should bring up a number of important questions that never seem to get answered.
* Do Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, etc., agree with the sort of sentiments expressed above and if not, why do they keep associating with the people that are saying these things?
* Moreover, if Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, etc., don't agree with the sort of sentiments expressed above, why don't they speak out about it instead of lending credibility to the people making those remarks by associating with them?
* If the most powerful people in the Democratic Party can get away with associating with the sort of people writing the quotes above, is there any group or person that's out of bounds for them?
* Perhaps most importantly--and, yes, this likely explains why the above questions will never be asked--if the Daily Kos has become the most influential liberal blog in the world, when the sort of garbage you've seen above is an important part of the blog, what does it say about the state of mainstream liberalism?
Ten years ago, a liberal website that featured diarists who thought American soldiers were "morally retarded," that called for revolution, and that speculated that the president was going to declare martial law to retain power, would have been considered to be on the farthest fringes of the left. But, today? Those sort of comments are as mainstream as it gets. That's the legacy of the Daily Kos and of the cowardly politicians in the Democratic Party who've helped to give that blog credibility.

Yep, the WACKO left. The blogger that helen and others here have long supported, praised and tried to convince others that they deserve respect from main-stream America. tsk tsk tsk
I'm the one who has called them un-American for their support of these anti/un-American loonies. But now, sadly, the radical liberals in the dem party have given them credibility.
This group of wackos has become just ANOTHER special interest group the nutcase liberal politicians are trying to win favor with - thus why they lowered themselves by appearing at their wacko convention. Anything for more votes....even when they support an un-American platform.
The Kossification of the Democrat Party is complete.
It will be a sad day in our Nations history if any of these liberals are actually elected and are allowed to change the path of America politics in the direction approved of by those un-American wackos on the dailykos - and of those who admire and respect the garbage spewed on that blog site.
Here's but one site who is pointing out their hatred for Jews. And THEY SAY they want 'hate speech' banned? No, not theirs.
They want that 'HIDDEN'.
==========
Mr. Rosenberg is not the only one they want to kill. Recently, a DailyKos diarist suggested "gassing Joe Lieberman like a dog." This exchange followed:
"I know you didn't mean it that way, but a reference to gassing a Jew needs to be hidden.
"I hope you will join me in asking that this comment be hidden and that there will not be a pile on. I will find some other comments of yours and uprate to make up for this."
Jew gassing is something to be hidden or uprated (whatever that means) but nothing to be ashamed of at the DailyKos.

DAILY KOS CO-AUTHOR FINED $30K FOR UNETHICAL STOCK TOUT
Wed Aug 08 2007 19:12:23 ET
Prominent liberal blogger Jerome Armstrong has agreed to pay nearly $30,000 in fines in a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission over allegations that Armstrong touted the stock of a software company, without disclosing that he was being paid to do so, the NY TIMES reports.
Armstrong is the co-author of _Crashing the Gate: Netroots, Grassroots, and the Rise of People-Powered Politics,_ with Markos Moulitsas of Daily Kos. He is also the founder of the Democratic activist site MyDD.com.
Under the agreement, Armstrong neither denies nor admits to the allegations.
"It's good to see the matter finally end," Armstrong said in an e-mail message to the TIMES.
