The children's parents are cousins. Closer examination may reveal that there are generations of cousin marriages in this line. It is far from uncommon in that part of the world Don't forget, Mohammed himself married a cousin. I see similar results all the time in line-bred and back-bred livestock. The mystery is why humans think they can get away with it when in the rest of the animal kingdom these anomalies are selected against.

Ignorance!
The Chinese used to think it is alright for children of 2 biological sisters to get married but not children of 2 biological brothers as men have dominant genes.
In other words, women genes dont count!
But as I was watching them learn how to walk in that show, there is a voice from a scientist saying it is too late for them to walk upright!
Rememeber the 2 sisters raised by wolves in France and later returned to civilised world, they never fully adapt to their new envrironment-they kept their windows open in winter and would not eat certain food and have problem learning to speak.
i forget if they ever walk upright?

Middle Eastern contributions to mathematics are irrefutable. But I don't think it has anything to do with breeding or genetics. Heck, even the word Algebra is of arabic derivation, Algebra being explored during Babylonian times.During the period from roughly the 7th to the 16th centuries the region around Iran and Iraq was ruled by a succession of caliphs who encouraged and paid for research and learning. They fostered the translation and study of ancient texts from other parts of the globe. For example, they were the first to pay serious attention to the decimal system, which had been invented by the Hindus in India centuries earlier.

This is pretty clearly "nurture" over "nature". I don't think the average Abrab kid is any more inclined to mathematical genius than the average oriental kid is to winning spelling bees.

Meant to add, walking on all fours is akin to having extra fingers or toes or some other physical anomaly and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with native intelligence or intellectual prowess.

One scientist said that since the parents managed to have 19 children in a relatively short period of time, they cant spend so much time with each child.
toddlers do crawl on all fours until they are encouraged to walk on their feet,if no one enocurage them to walk on 2 feet or correct them when they get too old to walk on all four, they just keep doing what they do best-walk on all four.
19 children is a lot of children for 2.

An ordered sequence of motor events independent of learning ocurs before walking.

Even with minimal stimulation children will go through this process without being "taught" and they will walk without being "taught.

But if children are neglected as they might be in an orphanage and kept isolated in a crib for example, then their ability to walk may be delayed but they will walk.

If children will walk ,then how do you explain children who are raised with wolves?
Dont they run on all four?

Most if not all of those stories are fables and unprovable, either really old stories or the stuff that grocery store checkout tabloids print. You know, "Jesus' alien baby's ghost cured my cancer", that kind of nonsense. Even if true, they are hardly evidence enough to prove that bipedalism is a learned rather than instinctual trait.

One evolutionary theory postulates that humans gradually adapted to upright posture to better compete against other predators who had better eyesight, hearing etc. Being able to stand up allowed early humans to see farther over obstacles than their competitors.

I don't know how many babies you've had hwa, but in my experience with a few, normal human babies begin to try to stand up on their own, they don't just crawl around waiting for big people to show them how. Sure we encourage and help them, but they start trying on their own.

Now if you'll excuse me, there's an article I found in a scholarly publication at a Safeway checkout stand that I need to finish reading. Turns out they've discovered a real live Sasquatch working at a Sears Auto Center in Dacron, Ohio.

I didn't push or show my son to walk at all- he progressed from crawling to walking in an incredibly short span. He walked and would run on tippy-toes for an incredibly long time until he got his bearings. The tabloid reports of children raised by wild beasts are super-fun to read on our girls-at-the-beach weekends.

But your own kids and kids raised in a society see adults walking around so why not trying walking?
There are kids raised by wolves, the famous 2 sisters in India were raised by wolves!
Not sure about Tarzan, probably Hollywood hero!

Tarzan was a story hwa, and anyhow, he walked upright. The Indian sisters were reported on in 1926. Surely you must have some better evidence.

Back to the checkout aisle for you !!

You can train a dog to walk on 2 legs, but do they continue to transport themself's in such a fashion. No, not in most cases, since evolution has provided them with the physical structure that is efficient at using four limbs to move. The reason humans will eventually walk upright regardless of any outside stimulus or lack of.
Is evolution has provided us with a body to do so. Do have to school a fish on how to swim?

Somewhre there is a story about a child raised by a duck who could walk, swim and FLY!

But even more amazing is that somewhere there is someone who will believe it.

Your comment about "nurture" over "nature" led me to read a book that I had overlooked somehow... one quote from the book...

"Professors are inclined to attribute the intelligence of their children to nature, and the intelligence of their students to nurture." Roger Masters

It's a very interesting book, really! Nature VIA Nurture by Matt Ridley...Genes, Experience, & What Makes Us Human

Great quote and so true. I'm going to remember that one. My poor kids have always suffered through the taunts "sure you get straight A's, you're a teacher's kid!!"

It's nuture for sure with mine, especially my blockheaded youngest one....

On the other hand, the poor kid has to live in the shadow of his sisters, daddy's girls if ever there were any.

African meerkats can stand upright and run on all four.
Running on all four is faster than running on just 2 !

Yes, in Africa, the famous Meerkat Twins, Ima and Eura. They both preferred to walk on all fours. They learned it from their Adoptive Meerkat parents, Heeza and Sheeza. It was in all the tabloids, surprised you missed it.
