I have been a Libertarian for a long time, believing that the less federal interference, the better. Since the George Sr. and George Jr. presidencies, I have seen enough of government interference in favor of large corporations, in favor of making the rich richer and to hell with the middle class and poor, I now concede major federal intervention is needed to correct the balance. I can't afford to vote third party in this election. I need to vote democrat, whoever the candidate is.

This is pretty much exactly the same thing that happened to me, only during the last election. I've always been a social "liberal" and a fiscal conservative, and have found more often than not that libertarian ideals fit me more than any other. I registered as a Democrat. It was my first party affiliation in over 30 years of voting. We need to vote consistently in order to keep these people out of office, and we need to vote for candidates who stand a chance of winning. It's too bad our system won't give equal time to the support of third parties, but as a practical matter, and especially for president, it won't.

I have always been a flaming liberal - at least since moving from conservative Nebraska as a HS sophomore to Minnesota (Land of 10,000 lakes, HHH, McCarthy, Mondale, Paul Wellstone and the Coen Brothers) <- Just waiting for Stone to say something here LOL

Add me to this list. When I was in my 20's I was a "flaming liberal." No idea was too radical for me. Hate the government, don't trust anyone over 30--the whole deal. Now that I am over 30 (way over) I find myself thinking almost exactly like Profe, Pixia, Neglus and Helen. Very liberal in some areas, conservative in others. One thing I do know--a Democrat has to win this election. We need to get away from the lock-step mentality of this administration and reassure America we do have the right to life, liberty and the persuit of happiness and that our Constitution will prevail.

Yes, fiscally conservative. I can't stand to see my grandchild's money spent to support this war, and my great-grandchild's money spent on the inevitable back-lash. Edited to add- damn if any of them die in this Bush-induced inferno!
