I happened to be watching the Chris Matthews roundtable a few minutes ago, and the panelists were unanimous in their criticism of McCain--his not looking at Obama, once actually turning his back on him, seeming to disrespect him.

It does not matter anymore,we are looking for foreigners to buy 700 billion dollars worth of treasury instruments backed by toxic mortgages.
We dont need to defend ourselves, the foreign buyers would have to defend us ,we just have to learn to speak Arabic, make eggrolls and pour voldka.
Simple solutions for complicated problems,we just eliminate our defense budget, let them defend us.

From Gallup.com (for those who find it to be the last word)
The trend on the presidential horserace showed Obama building momentum heading into Friday's debate, moving from a tie earlier in the week to a five percentage point Obama advantage through Friday interviewing (most of which was conducted before the debate took place). The debate apparently has done nothing to halt or reverse that momentum. Today's report includes two full days of interviewing following Friday night's debate, both of which show Obama with a healthy advantage over McCain. Tuesday's report will provide the first fully post-debate three-day rolling average of voter preferences in the presidential election.
A USA Today/Gallup poll conducted on Saturday showed that Americans who saw the debate were more likely to say that Obama did a better job than McCain.
Obama's 50% level of support matches his high for the campaign, and his eight-point lead is just one percentage point below his largest, achieved after his international trip in late July. (To view the complete trend since March 7, 2008, click here.)
The national political focus remains largely on the government plan to help rid financial institutions of the bad loans weighing down the economy, a plan for which both McCain and Obama have expressed support. The next major event on the presidential election calendar is Thursday's debate between vice presidential candidates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. -- Jeff Jones

McCain has blamed Obama for the bailout failing. What cojones! He "suspended" his campaign and went to Washington, only to muck up the talks. His campaign was not suspended as there were ads run and Palin was stumping all weekend. He vowed not to debate until there was a bill, but he debated anyway. He said he was not going to phone in his participation, but he did. He claimed credit this morning for the revised bailout bill and then it was defeated. Oh brother! I'm curious to seen the Gallup polls in a few days.

I think this tops Tricky-Dicky! What should we call him Insane-McCain? That man speaks with forked tongue:
He takes credit for bailout passing - and then blames Obama when it doesn't. What did he do while negotiations were being done this weekend? Dine at a 4 star restaurant! http://www.blog.newsweek.com/blogs/stumper/archive/2008/09/29/the-bailout-bill-fails-should-we-blame-mccain.aspx

Insane McCain---that seems to fit. He appears unstable to me, either out of desperation to win this race or plain old mental illness. Would a stable man have such erratic behavior, choose Sara Palin as a running mate, spew lies which are easily checked, dine at a 4-star restaurant after mucking up negotiations and then claim credit for a success that never happened?
The thought that McCain/Palin could win just scares the bejesus out of me.

Palin makes a good politician, unlike Pelosi.
Pelosi has no business being a politician, she should be an Avon lady!

Interesting you should say that Hwa because Palin wants America to believe she isn't a politician - just some hockey mom turned governor, doncha know? If she is seen as a politician, her stock goes down.

hwahwa,
What do you base your criteria on, I am just curious. Because she is a woman? Give me some examples of truths, etc...that lead you to believe she is so wonderful. Actual links, etc...would be great. Do you believe she keeps a watchful eye on Russia?

Insane McCain - LOL!
We call him McCain't.

Whitman said she and McCain share a philosophy of scaling back the role of government. a point of view partly shaped by her EBay experience. "The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

From Gallup, again...
Bush’s Approval Rating Drops to New Low of 27% September 30, 2008
Before the U.S. House of Representatives voted down a proposed financial rescue plan endorsed by the Bush administration, just 27% of Americans said they approved of the job George W. Bush is doing as president, the lowest of his presidency and already down 4 points since the financial crisis intensified.
A 27% approval rating! Does that surprise anyone here? It may be why Americans see the economic bailout bill as just another sinister machination of the Bush administration... a last minute, last ditch effort to help Wall Street fat cats. How can a president who lies to the American people about an unnecessary and illegal war in which over 4,000 of their children are destroyed expect to be believed when he claims 700 billion will take care of a financial disaster?
After Bush's remarks this morning, New York Magazine's John Heilemann told MSNBC, "I don't think that comforts anybody. I don't think that moves a single vote. With due respect and sympathy for the man, that was the picture of a beaten dog. That was the picture of presidential impotence right there."

How did they even find 27% of Americans who support Bush? You are absolutely right, Helen. Most Americans do not trust anyone in Washington, especially in the administration. Even if this bailout were the best economic plan ever devised, who would believe it.?

I was on a cruise a while ago, and much to my amazement, there were a number of people there who still support Bush, and "love" him.

Our republican senator, Gordon Smith, can't distance himself far enough away from Bush or McCain. He often speaks on how he crossed partisan lines to work with Obama on energy issues, but I don't think he has even mentioned McCain during this campaign and he was too busy to attend the GOP convention. When he first ran for office, Smith's soapbox resembled Palin's.

Gallup Daily: Obama Leading by 7 Points NEW October 3, 2008
Gallup Poll Daily tracking from Sept. 30-Oct. 2 -- conducted mostly before Thursday night’s vice presidential debate -- has Barack Obama leading John McCain by 7 percentage points, 49% to 42%.
This is very important for squirrel. After all, the Gallup is the last word! LOL
OT - sortof...my golden retriever brought us a present two days ago, on our back porch. A dead squirrel! UGH, my husband of course, had to dispose of it. I love to watch the squirrels, running all around my yard. They just can't remember where they hid those nuts!
A poll is not a prediction. It is a snapshot of how people are thinking right now.
