If only the rest of the American people would feel that way. If this fool and his even more foolish running mate get into office, I'm finished thinking anything positive about what goes on in this country. I will live here and I will contribute to society what is my moral responsibility to contribute, but that will be all. If he gets into office, those that voted for him WILL get what they deserve. The Buddhists call it Karma. And, believe me, karma really does happen. Just ask me anytime I even think about doing something wrong.
Just what have the republicans been smoking?
This is a sad comment to make, but Palin makes Bush look intelligent.

"The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

I will also lose my confidence in people if that man gets elected. The more I listen, read, and watch, I find it amazing that anyone could think he would make a good president. The only answer I can think of is that people don't want a black president and that makes me sick to my stomach. They would rather have a war monger who is not "Main Street" at all and will never care about middle america.
Palin has become the butt of all jokes and she deserves it. She should go home and take care of her family. They obviously need her, especially the baby.

Me, too. It will be a glorious day when people can look beyond race and what a person looks like on the outside to what is truly in someone's heart and soul. Obama's a good man and his race should play no part.

I saw a minivan yesterday at Starbucks, and it had a bumper sticker that said...Osama Obama. It is insane. The problem is ignorant people believe these things. I wanted to yank the woman out of the car and knock some sense into her. This election is getting to me. Her minivan certainly said middle america, so I am perplexed.

We are all entitled to express our opinion, you have yours and she has hers.
This is why everyone wants to come to this country without KGB or any secret agents knocking on their door for what they said in the daytime .

deichen - Just goes to show how ignorant some people are. I'm willing to bet most wouldn't like what they find if they dig into their family history deep enough.

This is a scary thought. Is that all the Republicans can think about is increasing the deficit. $700 Billion here, a trillion there. Two wars with no end in sight.
They are going to bankrupt this country and we will soon be a third world country.

Other than emergency trauma treatment, at which the US excels, health care in the US is over-priced and not very good. We're great at trauma because of the extensive experience our ER doctors get with gunshots and other wounds, esp. if they've been in the military.
According the the World Health Organization, here are the international healthcare rankings (if you're having a tough time finding the US, it's at #37 between Costa Rica and Slovenia):

Deichen,
Thank you for the kind words. I googled international health care rankings and got that. It's been an interest of mine since I have many doctors in my extended family; a few in the US and some in Europe, and some physician friends in Australia.
One thing that is really stark is that, given our ranking, we're far and away the most expensive. From 2003 (except UK, which is 2002 data), the US spends $5,635 per capita on healthcare, vs. $2,231 for UK and $3,003 for Canada.
That's one of the reasons we now have health-care tourists that travel to, for example, Singapore for their health care. It costs less, and the quality is absolutely first rate. It more than pays for the flights and hotel stay.

I was on the French side of St. Martin a few years ago, and right before my flight back home, I cut my foot pretty badly on something in the ocean.
Since I couldn't drive without using my right foot (well, not without running the risk of a bigger problem), a nearby doctor picked me up at the beach, drove me to his (immaculate) clinic, cleaned out my wound with antibiotic solution, gave me 5 stitches, bandaged my foot, and filled a prescription for antibiotics (sea water is full of nasties). He apologized that he couldn't accept my health insurance, and charged me a whopping $90!
I talked to him about his practice. He said that while he wasn't getting rich, he lived in a beautiful place, made enough money to live well there, and had a chance to live a very fulfilling life helping many people.
