As I'm waiting for release of the investigation's report, I ran across this CBS story:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/09/cbsnews_investigates/main4512469.shtml?source=mostpop_story

A real display of Palin's judgment was in who she chose to replace Walt Monagan and her decision to give the replacement a $10,000 severance package when he was forced to step down two weeks later (Monagan who served 30+ years received no severance).

The investigation's conclusion brings into doubt the maverick-aka erratic decision-making ability of McCain to try to place an unethical, self-serving abuser of power within a heartbeat of the presidency in exchange for a flash in the polls which quickly faded.

Interesting link.

It's disheartening to run into people who should know better but who will not vote for Obama/Biden. Today at our cabin, some other residents of the area dropped by. We like these people, but they started in on what a pistol Sarah P. is, and how she's fired up the base. They didn't say they like McCain, but they definitely don't like Obama (and can't say why, exactly!). The husband asked us to look at all of McCain's experience and contrasted that with Obama's, saying Obama has had none, just 143 days in the Senate or such. I had to argue with that one. I said I liked Michelle Obama a lot, that she's fun to listen to and very accomplished, and the visiting wife disagreed with me. I can't help but think that racism is underlying everything for people like that.

Roadsmith - Isn't it just awful in this day and age to let race be a reason not to vote for someone? I can respect that a voter disagrees with his policies, but to bring race into it is just disheartening. We are a very backward nation where race relations are concerned.

Cheryl
Whitman said she and McCain share a philosophy of scaling back the role of government. a point of view partly shaped by her EBay experience. "The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.
