Your tagline:

Economic Reform act of Chairman Obama of the socialist States of America :
10 ounces of meat per month, half a yard of cotton per year per adult.
Hellilujah!

Does this mean that if Obama wins (and he will) you might as well go back to China? I doubt your answer will be yes. Just wondering....

If, hwahwa, you consider Obama's proposed platform socialism, what do you call the bailout that was approved by Bush and McCain? Hmmmm?

Cheryl
Whitman said she and McCain share a philosophy of scaling back the role of government. a point of view partly shaped by her EBay experience. "The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

Good question, Cheryl.

Republicans want less regulation but they do want help and bailouts when they make bad decisions.

I'll never forget Larry Kudlow, a staunch free market proselytizer on CNBC, when the stuff hit the fan a while ago. He was almost hysterical, saying that many of the people he knows were losing their jobs and that something HAD to be done.

I'm a capitalist myself (with limits), but I do believe that what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

As usual, they want to privatize gains and socialize losses. Shameful self-serving cowards.

The only good news is that maybe the boogeyman of "socialized medicine" will finally be seen clearly, now that the free-marketers have nationalized the banking industry. It is shameful that the government promotes the healthcare industry yet does nothing for the people who can't afford healthcare.

My thoughts exactly, Cash. Amazing how those so fearful of nationalizing healthcare were first in line to nationalize banks.

No I have no intention of going back to China,I left China a long long time ago,I grew up in Hong Kong,a favorite place of Milton Freeman .
I doubt if this country would become a stronghold of socialism, but fads come and go and while it lasts lets all pretend we are starring in a new and improved Shakespeare play called Merchants of Venice with a socialist twist!
Socialise losses and privatise gains-what a catchy clever slogan!
Unfortunately the privatised gains have been disappearing fast!
Take a look at your 401K,mutual fund holdings, stock and bonds portfolio and value of your home sweet home !
Capitalists big and small, better don your MAO jackets and start reading the red book!

30-40 years ago?? there was a problem in this country with food prices, they kept going up and all fingers pointed at the villains-the AMERICAN FARMERS!
The farmers of America finally pitched in and rented billboards across highways ,it features a farmer and the sign said 'Next time you complain about the price of food, please make sure you are not speaking with your mouth full'
Where do you think all the toxic stuff come from-your mortgage and my mortgage and joe's mortgages ,credit card loans, equity loans, second mortgages, student loans, car loans pooled and securitised, sliced and diced into tranches and sold all over the world.
Brothers and sisters,we are all in it together !

Hwahwa,

The money's been made and socked away. Now we get to bail out the empty shells they left behind.

Where did they stash away their wealth?
I just read Chuck Prince is having problem selling his house, after lowering his asking price by $ 300,000!
The wife of Lehman CEO is selling her art collection?
The president of Lehman is selling his private jet?
Citicorp is being sued for stashing 32% of its employee 401k in Citicorp stock! That lawsuit was filed in November ,2007 when Citicorp stock dropped from 50s to 30s.
Look how much is it now?

Are you honestly expecting me to shed a tear for Richard Fuld because he has to sell his jet or for his wife for selling her art collection?

Or for Chuck Prince who had to lower his house by $300K (to 5,850,000)?

And I hope that Citi loses that case; after Enron, you'd think that keeping 401K monies in company stock would be illegal. Talk about lack of diversification!

Perhaps I just don't get your dry sense of humor. Or perhaps you are unintentionally funny. I'm not sure which it is, but I'm tired and going to bed.

What happened to Hwahwa's Ebay Outlook thread about her problem with Comcast?

I see that all comments in that thread have disappeared from search. So it must have gone poof in the night.

The thread, in which Hwahwa was asking for advice about how to deal with a Comcast problem suddenly evolved into a criticism of her tag line. It was my opinion that political tag lines or signature lines were not intended to invite argument or criticism and that political tags should not be prohibited on Ebay Outlook just as signature lines advertising a user's business should not be prohibited here. But the criticism continued there and Deichen started this thread to continue the criticism here.

Although someone was able to shift the discussion back to her topic, when I returned to read the Ebay Outlook thread it had disappeared.

I hope that nobody disappeared along with the thread.

Edited to add a comma.

You're right! Was anything in that thread that offensive to merit removal? I thought Vendio "locked" when things got out of hand. Maybe hwahwa requested removal?

Me too. And I still think her sig is ignorant, but also perfectly OK if she wants to use it.

I know that the author of a thread can request that it be locked. But I wasn't aware that anyone could successfully request the removal of a thread. And when threads have been removed in the past the circumstances were serious...unlike this thread, as far as I know. Maybe we missed something.

I have to admit, I have never really understood hwa's various sig lines (except the stop whining one). They never seem to make sense. Humor doesn't translates well from one language/culture to another. I don't understand most of my husband's German jokes and am totally in the dark when I list some comic postcards from the 191x'S. Perhaps that's the thing?

I remember someone suggested that hwa/stop whining was actually a group of people posting using the same sign in. I think they were a gender studies group from Texas? Is that true Hwa?

I have never understood her tag lines and thought the stop whining one was just stupid. Perhaps it is as you suggest and her "humor" doesn't translate well.

I have no idea what was really offensive about that topic and think that hwahwa must have asked for it to be removed.

Good question, Neglus. Some apparent inconsistency could support that idea.

Deichen, if Hwa simply requested the removal of a thread and Vendio complied it would seem to indicate that s/he has more power here than we suspect or that something was posted that seriously violated the Vendio guidelines.

ed to correct gender to s/he.

I don't really know what the procedures are for getting one removed, maybe after I last checked it, someone posted something offensive. Some didn't want the discussion on EO so I brought it here. My bad.

Another signature line from Stopwhining....

"The lobster in the boiling pot of water who tries to prevent the others from climbing out."

Sounds almost like a job description.

Hello,

I wasn't in the office when the referenced thread was removed, so I don't know the details. But we will sometimes do this when a thread on the eBay Outlook has gone substantially off topic (non-eBay related), and I believe that is what happened in this case. No-one was suspended, and if anyone requested that the thread be removed, then I am not aware of it.

Regards,
Nathan

I did not ask Vendio to remove the thread, but let me guess why it is removed!
It has to do with AOL/Time Warner and Yahoo!
News just came out -Yahoo and Google will no longer work together on a search deal!
BTW that lobster tagline comes from Fluffy!

Cash,
I do not expect you to shed a tear for anyone selling his jet or his wife's artwork, whether you shed or not shed,I could not care less!
Here is another tearjerker piece of news from India-
Police broke into a home and found 4 dead bodies and 71 credit cards.
The elderly couple 71 and 60 with their grown children got carried away with their credit cards. The only way out for them is to end their life!

Hwahwa,

Now them, I CAN shed a tear for them.

Hwa, I think that I can see why some think you are really a syndicate posting to this forum. You're very difficult to predict (which might be a good thing, but I'm not convinced).
