Matrubhoomi is a futuristic Indian movie about India,what happens if the Indians keep killing their baby girls and soon there wont be enought females to go around??
It happens in a village where most families have sons and no daughters,as soon as a girl is born,the father will drown her in a large urn filled with milk and said 'Next year there will be a son'.
All the young men are single and frustrated,they will patronise burlesque shows where men will dress up as women,place 2 oranges in their blouse and wriggle around.men went wild,blew kisses and throw money at these 'girls'.
One family consists of a widower and his 5 sons,and a houseboy of a lower caste to cook and clean for them.
Everyday the oldest son who is a macho cop will swear at his father for not finding them a bride so now they are eating lousy meals served up by the house boy.
Then they were all invited to a wedding where a dutiful father in the village has found his son a 14 years old virgin girl.
The eldest son cursed his father some more and called him an inept #*!@.
Nevertheless they all attended the wedding and it turns out the 14 years old virgin bride is a boy.
Father is tired of verbal abuse from his son so he went to his good friend a priest to find a bride for his son(s).
The priest spotted a beautiful young girl in the next village and spoke to her father.
Then he arranged a meeting between the 2 fathers.
It is an indian custom that the eldest son should marry first but he is at work so father and the youngest son showed up for the meeting bringing photos of the eldest son in uniform waving a rifle.
Father of the young girl studied the photos and said he is too tough for his daughter and preferred the youngest son who is handsome and gentle.
The priest then turned to the widower and said if you skip your eldest son and let the youngest son get married first,you must come and stay in my house as your eldest son will kill you.
Then the father came up with an idea,100,000 rupees for one son and 500,000 rupees for 5 sons.
A deal is struck,the girl will marry all 5 sons,problem solved.
The eldest son comes up with a calender,each son will have a night with the girl but there are 2 nights which are still open?
The widowed father started to cry,it is not easy to raise 5 sons,has anyone ever thought of his needs?
Okay,father gets the sixth night and the remaining day,girl can milk the cows.
The poor girl wrote a letter to her father and her father showed up in a car and a mobile phone,which he brought with some of that 500,000 rupees.
He then demanded another 100,000 rupees from his in law since he is sleeping with his daughter.
After he left,the eldest son kicked the girl and place her in the barn with the cows.
She talked the houseboy to escape with her ,but they were tracked down by the sons and the houseboy was shot and hacked into pieces by the eldest son.
now she is shackled in chains in the barn but the sons kept coming to visit her on their allotted day .
then they found out she is pregnant,so they brought her back into the bedroom so she can give them a son!
The uncle and relatives of the dead houseboy sought revenge and a caste war broke out and many died.
The girl gave birth to a baby girl and the new houseboy walked in and saw a rare sight- a girl and he cried out in joy-it is a girl!
